"Giant sequoias are the world's largest single trees and largest living thing by volume. Giant sequoias grow to an average height of 50–85m (164–279 ft) and 6–8m (20–26 ft) in diameter. Record trees have been measured to be 94.8m (311 ft) in height and over 17m (56 ft) in diameter."

There are trees on modern real-world Earth that make even the ~18-meter-tall MWO Atlas (which is already significantly larger than the ~13-meter-tall BT-canonical Atlas) look tiny.
A "forest colony" on a verdant alien world being populated by such trees is hardly the most unthinkable of things.

Holy crap... I knew Sequoias were big... but 56 FEET in diameter? Good lord O_O That tree has a significantly larger footprint than my 2 stall garage!

Yes, I've seen the MW4 intro before. I've been playing Mech Warrior for a long time which anyone could know that by reading the introduction in my guide. The MW4 intro's mech scale is mest up because the grass is growing taller than the Uziel's foot as it steps through. The mech scale gets fixed after the forest walk through is over when they get to the palace grounds shooting up the vehicles.

I've stated what I'm concerned about in my first post in this thread which was the perception of mech scale in those screen shots. Trees and mechs only in a picture doesn't suggest that the trees and mechs are giant without other items/props like smaller vehicles or humans standing nearby. How would a new player know that those trees are giant trees instead of regular sized trees? Would they know that the mech is huge already or would they not when they see a tree larger than the mech itself? Someone else would have to tell them that those trees are giant not regular size trees if there isn't anything else in their view that suggests that those two things, the mech, and the trees are larger.

Keep in mind, these are only a few screenshots, featuring what I believe is the dropship drop-off location, in other words where the 'Mechs spawn. This map will be bigger than the current Forest Colony map, and will feature more assets than shown here. More screenshots and videos will come over the weeks as the map continues the development process.

I do know that this is a work in progress but I also know that if people are talking about the map it helps to let the artists know how to make their work more appealing to people.

The Dropship drop off location(Mech Spawn) is where player's are introduced or start to see the map. Wouldn't it be immersion breaking if the perception of mech scale is broken when the player's start to see the map?

Not Earth grass or trees, so the artists could literally make them look however they want.

I have never seen a Flying drop ship in any of the public maps

Have you been missing out on River City lately? :P

The screenies are cool, wonder if there will be more varied tree size?

Be VERY interesting to see what the bay is like, the 'new?' colony etc.

Might I ask what shape the tree hitboxes are going to be?

I'd rather not have a repeat of HPG.

^^This.

Only other concern is ground debris - I know this is a gripe for a fair few people on Viridian, constantly clipping stuff especially if in a light.. ..hope fallen trees etc do not cause too much of an issue..

Great sneak peak - if the overhaul is just 10% as good as the job you've done with RiverCity than it'll be still awesome.

MechWarrior 2/NetMech had a map (Galluzo I think it was) that had sequoia type trees that also had an effect on Mech Sensors (the high metal concentration of the soil and water made the trees indestructible as well as lower sensor range) so its not out of the realm of possibility
