Mech "select" Button Inconsistency

When you access the mech select screen while in (or from) the mechlab tab, the button to confirm your mech selection reads "select"

However...

When you access the mech select screen while in (or from) the home tab, the button to confirm your mech selection reads "save"

Shouldn't it read "select" regardless of where you came from?

Shouldn't PGI have hired a competent UI designer and never made such a terrible interface in the first place?
