I must say I'm getting quite the laugh out of the deluge of tears brought on by the recent HSR improvement...

I find it hilarious that in one fell swoop the cries of indignation over pumping shot after shot into a mech with marginal damage has turned into wild declarations of TTK being too abrupt.

Like I said, be careful what you wish for...

Apparently improvement in hit registration is only good when it affects your target and not you?

Me? Yup... I'm taking my lumps. That said, it's pretty satisfying dropping mechs that previously would have laughed off the same shot prior to HSR.

What's the issue?

I have no complaints. Legit hits register, they register. Good Light Pilots seem to be adapting fine. Bad ones who needed HSR crutch, are dying. Good.

Now, if things stay constant, we have a baseline for any balancing adjustments needed. But trying to adjust anything while Void Armor existed? Pointless.

Also, toss in 100% resale rate fo newbies in thier first 50 games, cuz yeah, id set the "cadet" period higher then current 25 games.

That's not a bad idea. I like it.

I've been dropping almost exclusively in Urbies over the weekend (haven't had time to master them before), and my KDR has... stayed exactly the same.

I do die easier, but so do my targets.

The most significant change I've seen is that matches swing faster into 12-0 or 12-2 stomps than they did before.

This is probably very true. Problem with TTK? Probably a large portion of the player population is just BAD, overall, like most games. Once they start to fold, it's over, for the most part. And no lagshield to hide behind. And too much powercreep.

Perhaps PGI should implement the Chameleon:

Edit: Doesn't look half bad either:

The only problem with a newbie specific mech is that it shines a huge light on the mech saying..."I'M A NEW PLAYER! IM PROBABLY AN EASY KILL". It might single out new players too much.

If this game had a cadet queue for new players, and the Chameleon was free and the only mech allowed, then I could see that working. Heck, even weapons and equip for it could be free. Once you graduate from cadet training, you lose the Chameleon (and all free equip), but get money to buy your first mech.

Maybe it would work ok.

Newbie specific means it's given to them. But as long as it's upgradable, and decent, it could easily be run by Vets, too.... with a nice little bit of "Newb-Camo" to sucker in prey.

Yeah, or you could use it for the (required) tutorial AND the first 25 (cadets-only) cadet games, and then get it as a gift when you finished that. Use it or not, here's a free 'mech.

I swear, they couldn't make the game harder to get into if they actually tried.

not so. they could have started off with a control locked, mandatory unskippable tutorial. It was close. I hear Paul beat Russ on that one, rock paper scissors, best 2 out of 3.

I have a feeling that a lot of the decisions at PGI gets decided by rock-paper-scissors, best out of 3.

It would explain so much :)

Sarna doesn't really sell the mech as good lol, but then again, anything is possible in MWO. Might be interesting.

implying the 'knight errant' title doesn't do the same
veterans sometimes set it too but rarely
