I get the concept, however other than the DW name me some rock solid builds using CUACs. I ran 300+ drops in my TW with 2xUAC5s and 4xCERMLs before the UAC buffs and loved it - nobody would accuse that build of being 'comp tier' though.

I'm not saying they are comp tier either, but that's not what your question was on.

Your question was on Clan Ballistics vs. IS Ballistics.

The truth is that "IS ACs" as an advantage has long been a red herring in this conversation.

AC 5s as a build are kind of weak until you have like...three of them and you are on a mech that makes it work (Banshee).

Outside of that, there are no good, strong IS AC focused builds that aren't on mechs with HUGE quirks.

The reason for this is that AC 5s and UAC 5s and AC 10s were never really that good, they were good in combination with PPCs, and poptarting and when nothing else competed with that.

Because builds that go for multiples almost automatically end up XL and have to compete with stronger Clan Laser Vomit, Gauss Vomit, and fast mechs with high survivability (Clan XL) etc.

IS ACs end up in "DPS" builds - and for DPS builds there's not really that much of a difference with Clan UACs.

Anyone who thinks they are hitting the same exact component, all of the time, with every AC 5 shot they take is either in the top 1% of this game or fooling themselves.

We might see a small resurgence with PPC speeds getting boosted recently, but I'm not holding my breath.
