Hey all, I bought the firebrand when it was on sale and have been enjoying it.
While I save up for my next Jager, what are some builds to use?

I'd like to keep the stock engine unless a build really needs a new one.

I just tried dual AC20 and have been doing fairly well but I think other Jager do it better.

Are Ppcs any good on the firebrand after the buff?

For all builds, other Jagers do it better. That's the way it is with Hero Mechs. You get the +30% CBill bonus, but it won't be the most highly optimised variant of that chassis.

Firebrand's main quirk is for PPC velocity and heat. You might want to build something around that.

Hey 2x PPC with 4x MPL works pretty good for me, but it's not as much fun as an AC8 Dakka build. ^^

In addition to that, they usually have a hardpoint type that the other variants don't, or have them in a location that the other variants, don't.

Firebrand has the LAZORZ up in those high-mounted arms, so if you get the Firebrand? Fill those arm energy ports first, then build out from there.

I run mine with Dual Gauss ... but other Jagers do that better, too.

I still love the dual AC5+Dual PPC build. I haven't changed mine in ages. bring backup lasers to taste...

I haven't had a chance to try this one out yet, but was thinking of dual ppc in arms, then an AC10 and maybe add a couple ML in torso.

Should I fill up all the torso energies with lighter lasers or just a couple ML or MPL and heart sinks?

Bought mine, planned to do the old 2xPPC 2xAC5.

Built 2LL, 2UAC5 instead for heat management while leveling - never changed it (you can swap some armor+ammo for AMS), it wrecks people. Makes no sense, but it's awesome.

And yes, what does the FB do that other Jaggers don't? Arm mounted (high mounted) energy.

As for other builds, you've already dabbled in the Boom Jagger, you could try the Dual Guass, or Triple UAC5 builds. For fun, or for costs savings, try the 2LPL, 6MG STD engine build

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll get the DD next and probably the A actually since I enjoy missiles and the S seems more similar to the DD.
I tried out the dual AC20 since I already had modules from my YLW and atlas. I have done pretty well so far with five tons ammo and two ML so far but haven't put a ton of games in. Almost for basics done (one left).

Appreciate the builds because for some reason I can't use smurfy well on phone, can't get equip to remove when I click on the X.

I've also tended to run the Firebrand as a 65 ton Rifleman. The AC/5s fires twice in the time it takes an LL to cycle. So if you run AC/5s & LLs you have the equivalent of 4 AC/5s or LLs as long as you can sustain fire on a target. I run Ultras for additional burst firepower.

The Riflebrand has a -10% laser duration bonus, 10% energy cooldown, and a -7.5% heat reduction with the practical nicety of only losing half your firepower if you run out of ammo.

If you load the JM6-DD up with 2 Med lasers and 6 AC/2s and the JM6-S up with 4AC/s and 4 Med lasers and (or) the JM6-A with 4 LRM 5s, 2 AC/5s, and 2 med lasers those loadouts are pretty powerful

Here is a build the other Jagers don't do better:

2 ERLL - Range module
4 ML - Range module

Use it in CW to great effect. Use it in public to medium effect. Keep your distance and melt some faces. It's in my dropdeck and one of my best mechs for CW.

Is that build better in CW because of the lack of ammo dependancy?

I did have a couple LL on it for a couple of games but it seemed to lose some of its punch. I already run a 3 LL CN9-AL which is pretty effective for a medium.

Yes, I like it for a lack of ammo dependency, aim corrections, and general range. It's not a brawler but sniper and support. I get a surprising amount of kills/damage in it.

For fun, nothing beats the AC40 w/ cooldown mod.

For competition, you can't go wrong with a Dual AC5 Dual Large Laser setup.

I still have to try out the 2LL 2ac5 build. The other night I put the PPC's back on.

280xl engine, ppc in left and right arms. Lbx10 in right arm and I think 2 MPL or ml. I dropped on caustic and thought I was screwed, but hill humping was finally feeling right for me, and I had the lbx to scare lights away and for when I had high heat. I ended up getting 2 or 3 kills and I think over 500 damage

All of you do it wrong. You mount an XL 340, 2 ppcs, and 4 medium lasers and fill it to the brim with heatsinks and endo steel. Proceed to being the most powerful jager of all as you play it like a super armored medium with manuevering sniper tactics and even brawling tactics of twisting since you're unexpectedly fast.

Seriously, It beats all my other jagers for how reliably it gets to 700+ damage.

Just wondering, have you tried a STD engine build? How is your survivability in the XL vs using a STD and surprising them with "not dying" capability? I have noticed that I tend to go for a ST fighting Jagers and die to an ST loss most playing as them so far.
