I believe an event or special planet owNersHip should allow iic mech use by the inner sphere. An event would be fun, but tying one or two planets to the ability for is players to use iic mechs would add a new dimension to cw.

Why IIC's specificly?

Why not the clan omnimechs or non IIC battlemechs?

I mean logically the IS will do nothing much on IIC's besides target practice, stripping for equipment, etc. because they are more interested in the Omnimechs and unique designs.

Designs like the timberwolf which does anything a IS sniper, LRM boat, and brawler at the same time for the weight class
Learning and taking advantages of the endo steel and ferro fibrous which is so rare for the IS in 3050 but in this case it's both with better effeciency and smaller size.
Designs like the Mad Dog with it's unique slim engine that allowed the future avatar and bushwacker to be produced
Direwolf which has nearly the same amount of firepower as some dropships.

So right here the IS wants the omnimechs the most. in 3050

On top of that, IIC's are second line or garrison mechs (depends on clan), meaning they are A: not in the front lines, you will realistically only see them defending a planet and not attacking, the only major acception was the Atlas II (not IIC, just II) fighting in the 3052 Battle of Tukayiid and the Hunchback IIC used by clan jade falcon in 3050 to 3052.

IIC's were some of the last mechs the IS identified, it took years till the commando IIC, Orion IIC, highlander iIC, etc were officially analyse and identified.

Clan omnimechs are the ones in the front lines, being captured or salvaged or straight up being known to the IS.

There's a reason there is a ton more IS pilots piloting the Direwolf between 3050 and 3055 then the conjoined number of IS players in IIC's.

It's not really logical in any way you look at it. Even then IS pilots using clan mechs in 3050 to 3055 are not that common, I can only name 6 people. Meanwhile the clans did heavily use a lot of IS mechs... battlemaster, centurion, rifleman, etc. and made a clan refit of them. (known as the "( C )" variants)

Just don't know.

PGI are working for something like this but the least we want is 1 "clan" team of mechs in IS mechs with the IS quirks with clan weapons and then the IS with clan mechs with weird mix and switchesl ike IS standard engines and omnitech being destroyed, etc.

With the game the way it is, there is no way an Inner Sphere House, unit, or individual MechWarrior would ever get their hands on a Clan 'Mech.

No, this is a Bad Idea™

Ideally I'd like them to implement a system where repair and rearm are back in the game (not as expensive as they used to be though) and some type of salvage system based in CW (the Instant Action of Launch Now should only provide c-bill/XP rewards).
Implement a MRBC style ranking of units (merc units obviously) where part of their contract is % of salvage rights for their employer.
This would (hopefully) encourage more CW play, as well as encourage more and more solo players to hook up with units.

EDIT
Of course this wouldn't work with the current quirk system, however PGI has stated that they're currently re-working the system, so you never know.

The logic behind this idea is that the Clan Technicians have already retrofit the mechs for use with clan technology. Capturing a manufacturing / re-manufacturing facility or planet would allow the production of these mechs from available IS mechs/tech and salvaged parts.

The Clan Omnimechs have no parts that can be produced by the Inner Sphere. So, production based upon only salvaged parts would be a production process nightmare.

Further, these IIC mechs were only used by garrison forces, so I am assuming they are not as powerful as Omnimechs and would not upset the balance of the game significantly.
