There's a white dashed arrow on the mini-map. What's that about?

I also can't make out what's getting shot. What is it? :P

Assualt Mech commander called in an airstrike and missles on the right are shooting down the aircraft! :P

Speaking of the map, I see it has rotated in relation to the mechs orientation. I hope there is an option to have the mini map always pointed north. As a light mech pilot, it can be kinda confusing if my map is spinning while I circle an atlas. I might not be able to find my escape route.

You can zoom I belive in game and that removes cockpit. and when non-zoomed it shows the cockpit :P

It's the direction the mech's feet are pointed. You can see the two triangles on the compass go along with this. The left triangle is leg direction, the right triangle is torso twist direction. The dashed line on the map is leg direction, and the shaded area between the two solid lines are field of view (based on torso direstion).

Maybe the missles are coming from a 3rd party. would show up as an enemy on your IFF, would also show up as an enemy to that mech that is being shot at in front of you. Coolness Either 3 team battles or a computer bot defense force unit.
Maybe thats the Base I have heard so much about capturing. Must have ECM to block target lock.

Oh yeah, this. I find maps totally useless when they rotate and can't help but wonder what is wrong with people's heads who prefer it.

Guess they had to use debug mode to find out how long it takes to kill a mech with an AC/2... only way to get enough ammo!

I think the white dotted line and arrow is the direction that the legs are facing, the 90 degree field is the direction the torso is facing and FOV.

I agree that a static map would be less confusing in the heat of battle than a rotating map.

Don't know its form, but there is definitly some sort of zoom facility planned, as it was listed as part of the concepts for the scout skill tree...

Which makes me think... would be interesting if that dotted line was plotted for other mechs on the mini map as well, with line lengths proportional to their speed, would be a nice tool for helping both plot, and avoid, use of the collision skill... the exact same way we overlay courses from radar or ais on ships at sea. Could be a part of the skill tree itself...
...possibly...

...just a thought anyway :P anyone like it?

Sounds good but might get way too cluttered on the minimap.
