So! I like the idea of the Jenner package, just for the sake of a massive splat runner.

With a clan XL. And clan missiles.

This feels. Dirty now. Suddenly I don't want to run around like that. God this is worse than the Huginn and Oxide. At least one has to spread damage over time, and the other can't jump. This one? This one is going to run in, smash an Assault's leg in at point black, and jet away giggling. It'll be FUN sure, but...really?

The Hunchback sounds like it'd be a hoot, but it also sounds like I'd get focused down like a dire the minute someone catches a glimpse of those dual hunches. I have my Grid Iron set up as a CBill Bonus 4G, so I'm set for my medium hero. Don't care for heavies and assaults.

The preorder bonuses for the tiers I want to buy seem very. Meh. The Premium especially. 0 Days for the Jenner? 7 Days for the Hunchie? Really? And I don't really care about the cockpit item.

And it's all supposed to be due on December. Five months from now. That's a long time. Still pending the supposed balance pass that's coming up. It'd be more appealing if I got the preorder premium before that. ( I mean there's no reason not to...?)

So yeah. Convince me. Why should I still get Origins, and not, I dunno, go buy a Gundam kit?

Well Grey, at this point it's really about time investment. At least that's how it is for me.

I don't have the time to sit at my computer, grinding cbills for hours at a time in order to buy 1 mech, let alone 3-4.

Therefore, I buy the mech packs when they're available. I've bought everything so far, all of Clan 1 right up to Origins. Even the bleeding Urbie. B)

This way I can have the mechs ready to go from day 1, figure out which of them I like most/least, which ones work better for my overall play style, and so on and so forth.

If you don't like Heavy/Assault mechs, you have absolutely no obligation to buy them... Unless you maybe were to strip them down then sell them for cbills to help pay for upgrades to the others.

I'm personally looking forward to the Orion and Highlander, the Hunchie as well, not sure about the Jennie just yet.

If you want the game (=PGI) to go on, support them with some money (20 bucks is not THAT bad. It's not a one-shot single player game, it's an ongoing mulitplayer game with ongoing cost).
In return, you even get some new toys to play with.

If you don't care if MWO lives or dies, than you can treat it like a "cost-benefit ratio" kind of thing and decide solely based upon the product's stats.

The fewer who get it the better, it's diluting the flavour difference between the factions and takes the game in a bad direction towards more power creep, when in reality we need to cut back on the creep that has already happened.

Well the Jenner and Hunchy should be fine, Highlander are Orion won't be a game changer. As it stands right now, they're gona be average at best.

While I appreciate the frankness, I could also support the game with an MC purchase, where I'd get some goodies. That though, was not my focus.

Let's try a different tack.

Why should I buy Origins and wait 5 months, when I could buy a smaller MC package for instant gratification?

Granted, exactly how much would be debatable. But still.

I'm not sure why that would be appealing...?

Again, not interested in anything heavy and above.

I literally can't think of a single good reason to buy them now rather than wait and see how things are when they're released.

PGI smartly made the "early adopter" variants very interesting, for example, that dual Gauss Orion mentioned above.

In that case: fair enough :-)

This means ... uhm ... you're on your own with the choice. GL&HF =)

I do it to support the game and reduce the grind. Having a RL outside of MWO my play time is limited so I'd rather not spend it grinding cbills to buy the new mechs. I already have enough of them to buy I still want, not to mention modules.

Plus they are sexy.

It's not like any of the extra variants are going to be hero mechs though, so even if you want them you're only saving some C-bills and getting them early. That's not a good enough reason for me personally to put down $80 half a year in advance and trust blindly that everything will be balanced by Xmas. YMMV.

You make it sound like extortion and blackmail.
