It'll be a clan light that will actually be good.

Eh. Doesn't look to scary. Better than IS 30 tonners? Sure. Better than a Firestarter? Nah.

Looks pretty cool design wise. Can wait to blow one up ;)

This.
It also probably won't be getting any good quirks and we don't know about the hitboxes yet do we? I'm betting it is good but I don't think it will be putting all the 35tonners out of business.

The chicken little crowd her is always amusing. Anyone that discusses "tiers" "TTK" "Balance" incessantly typically has issues.

Those legs look rather chunky for a light and easy to shoot off. I hope i'm wrong.

I'd say it's gonna be better than a firestarter. Got a safe XL, probably FS level hitboxes, 3 hardpoints above cockpit, ECM, and clan laser range/damage. Weight doesn't matter that much if you get 7dmg at 400m for a single ton. Heat might be an issue, but that's what we got CS(P)L got for.

They're probably getting foccused like hell, but it's not like the improved hitreg did cause many issues for the FS, which is still extremly strong. Furthermore, the high hardpoints/ECM do alow a cheetah to do safe damage after taking damage or even loosing an ST, so survivability will be quite good anyway. I imagine putting 3CERML above the cockpit is probably going to popular, maye combined with 4 SL's and around 14 DHS. That thing will be cooler than a firestarter and have more range/alpha, while retaining the pokeability of a raven with ECM.

Looks like Clanmechs gonna be superior in every category from now on. And that's considering the Firestarter is already very strong.

I predict it'll be no better than the current best IS lights.

It's just that the clans finally get a good light. I see literally nothing wrong.

You are slightly misinformed; 3 high hardpoints, or 2 and ECM.

LT is 2E or 1E+ECM

cSPLs are shorter ranged than the FS9 MPLs (at half the weight). Heat is an issue, where 5 ERMLs will run hot (for 35 damage). Even 4 are toasty on the Myth Lynx for less damage than your typical FS9 build.

It will be a challenger for the FS9, but not necessarily better. Hitboxes will tell. It should be solid, no doubt. Less armour, similar heat, but with a Jesus Box. Range can go either way (all the way up to 2 ERLLs, ECM, and nothing else without any arms).

The problem with this thread is twofold.

1. You believe in the tier system.

2. You believe in the quirk system.

We need to abolish both these things and be openminded to a complete balance overhaul.

We do *not* need to continue perpetuating these bad ideas by making threads like this one.

lol I was thinking the same thing. Seems like every time a new Clan mech is announced/released, the doomsayers start predicting the apocalypse. Interestingly enough, their counterparts are equally convinced those mechs are DOA.

It'll punch about like a FS, but with ECM, but 5 tons lighter. More to the point....

2xScrow, 1x Cheetah, 1x Dire Wolf will be a reasonable/viable deck.

So you'll have SCat/Scrow/Hellbringer/TW decks and 2xScrow/AC/Dire decks in addition to the standard 2xScrow/HB/EJ decks.

I genuinely expect the 2xScrow/AC/Dire deck to become the new norm - it gives the Clans a viable 'light rush' wave option and then 3 waves of mixed Scrow/Dire Wolf builds to roll teams back. Have a couple people on the team run 2xAC/TW/Dire Wolf and alternate in the ECM cover on the heavy waves and add that TW to your 2nd or 3rd wave alongside the Scrow/DW pile and you've got a serious mother ******* 12man deathball going on.

It's not just about the new mechs, it's about providing some very specific tactical options to Clan teams that they lacked before.

It's going to be interesting for Firestarter vs Cheetah.

Yes the firestarter has an xl but typically it is a leg war for light on light.

Will be fun. :)

Well, for the sake of argument let us say that they are close enough on speed and fire power to be even. The Cheetah will have a Clan XL and ECM to put it over the Firestarter.

Thanks, so it's 2 shoulder laser with ecm or 3 otherwise. I don't think the additional laser is worth it, tho: Clan laser have more concentrated damage in less guns (think 2ERML = 3ML), and even a solo ECM shield is very usefull for fast mechs and skirmisher.

Not sure why you're comparing SPL to MPL, tho: You can just go 4 CERMPL, that's 2 points of damage more than 5 MPL with afair 50% additional range at two less tons. And range is (i've got all three Firestarter) worth a lot. Just a minimum more heat per damage, but that should be easy to compensate. Generally expecting lighter laser, at least in the lower body parts, since they leave more room for DHS while still provide as much or more damage than IS counterparts.

Do not underestimate that this mech will always be better at shooting over ridges than a raven if you want to, while having a safe XL. Won't even show his torso, only the two high shoulders and the upper part of his cockpit. A raven at least needs to show half his bulky torso to peak. And that's while thereotically having all the advantages of an FS' hitboxes.

If these hitboxes are even halfway decent, then it's gonna be far better than a raven and firestarter combined. Never underestimate an ECM, it's incredibly usefull on fast mechs. Can't believe the stuff i got away with in one of the worst raven variants with a small XL. Solo'd timbers.
