You know what the world needs.... a true, big budget Battletech movie.

Or a Battlestar Galactica quality TV show.

Think of what kind of exposure this would bring to the story. I mean, huge stompy robots on TV every week, all by itself, would be awesome. And if they play it right like BSG did, they don't need every episode to be CGI heavy. Especially since the depth of story is probably rivaling game of thrones anyway. Think about the amount of content in the books, and if someone could somehow compile it into something coherent and serial, with regular main characters and a quality story arc, it would be epic. Even if the main characters were mercs and the series followed their various jobs or maybe make a Firefly style show, but with Mechs. That would be epic.

This has been brought up several times before. The biggest debates is what time period should it start with?

Oh my.. Never saw that show - just watched a few minutes on Youtube. Painful!!! Especially when they switch to CGI (if you can call it that).

Yeah, someone needs to make a real show about this stuff. With good writing and good acting. Not some cheesy half baked attempt.

So why is "what year should they start the story" such a big issue? Just make a compelling story and get it going. Gridlock doesn't help anybody.

Sometimes you need to reinvent the fiction just a bit to make it awesome. Again, with Battlestar Galactica. They took some risks by messing with the original story, but in the end it was a thousand times better story than the original ever was.

Just use the blood of Kerensky books as main storyline.

A lot of lore and interesting characters to work with, with a lot of exciting battles :-)

First off, the concept its correct and would kill at the box office or even on cable tv, just look at how well Pacific Rim did.

Secondly, this will never come to fruition. Look how hard it was for PGI to get this game going, while shopping the MW5 concept around developers and distributors wont touch Battletech anything with a 10 foot pole someone else is holding.

And the reason why:

HARMONY GOLD

Due to there business model of bringing lawsuits against anything that they think could be profitable to the battletech franchise and push robotech farther into obscurity, and due to the courts upholding a decision from 20 years ago that no one else in the world gives a flying rat **** about, no production company worth a damn will ever bring a BT connection into anything it makes because its a death sentence when the law suit hits the court,

which is why we have a F2P game that is barely a actual game, rather then a full blown reboot of the MW series...

i really wish we could all sue HARMONY GOLD into the ground for being a bunch of unintelligent, uncreative assbags they are....

or when a couple of us win the lottery buy the right to the UNSEEN back from them (not going to happen since its there only way i know of for them to make any money as a company)

This is just a suggestion. I have no idea how possible this might be. If PGIGP gets their act together and wins back support for this game (big if?), maybe a crowd funding campaign could be started with the money going to PGIGP with the express conditions that:

A. it be used to purchase the rights to all of Harmony Gold's BT properties and
B. with the additional condition that PGIGP agrees to license it to whichever movie studio takes on the project.

PGIGP should get to keep any surplus not required to secure the rights but only with the stipulation that all of it must go toward MWO.

Opinions?

HG are such ******* that there will never be enough money to slate them. seriously these guys hold IP and as soon as they sense someone making moeny off of it, they DON'T enter a deal of i'll scratch your back you scratch mine ie: we'll have a loan contract for the IP we "own" and what you do with it we get a cut. instead they say, I'll sue your arse nobodies doing anything, no money making for anyone.

stupid *****!
