MS is a merc unit. They're beholden to no house except temporarily via contract. Why would they just automatically lose planets they've taken just by changing contracts? They took those planets fair and square under the Wolf banner.
Because they have changed to another faction, in fact in this case, the enemies of the Houses. It would only make sense to lose the tag from the planet. They took it for Wolf, it remains Wolf, but -MS- are now the enemy of Wolf, so should lose the planet. Why would any House or Clan allow an enemy unit to control their territory ? That just makes no sense at all.

They actually got punished for this during the last event when units were able to take planets that they took while under another faction and it counted against their current faction total.
Taking away planets that a faction won fairly just cant fly in CW. Sorry.
If they had planet X, and then changed faction, then retook planet X from themselves after changing to another faction that's not being punished.
And this is where the door of exploitation is open......
Theoretically it is currently possible with this mechanic, for a single unit to occupy the entire Inner Sphere. Given the time and good coordination. Especially considering the player driven invasion paths that are about to be implemented.

Given the way the current tag system is basically actually "<Unit> was MVP here!", I fail to see why stripping the tag on faction change should happen.
Because they no longer occupy the world. The tag is that of the occupying force, not most valuable unit. It is even stated on the planet in the map screen.... Occupying Unit.
