"Stock mode" brings you the real feeling to pilot a mech and the feeling to play a simulator game.
A simulator is an immersive experience.
Slow movement, heat and ammo management reflect the difficulties you are supposed to deal with when you are piloting a mech.



The custom mode everyone is playing now is just another "run and spam your fire button" FPS where you play a deadly and agile exoskeleton.

Battletech is all about having big stompy robots dismember each other with highly destructive ordnance over a period of about 2 mins. It's the turns that take so goddamn long, and make mechs feel tankier than they are. That, and being unable to accurately hit what you aim at, and when you do hit, rng decides you don't hit anything important (unless it's your favourite mech, in which case, there goes the ammo).

Whenever I want a true Battletech feel, I go play World of Warships.

Whenever I want a game with units that resemble Battletech units, and don't mind putting up with pinpoint Alphas, a terrible heat system, and CoD style game play, including accurate high speed strafing and bunny hopping, I play MWO.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I (mostly) enjoy MWO, or I wouldn't play it. But I just wish it was a little more of the MECHwarrior and less of the codWARRIOR.

Are Stock Mech Mondays still a thing?

I wonder if getting rid of things like speed tweak, and lowering the overall agility of all mechs would help.
Beyond the awesomely gross amount of customization this game affords, it does really kind of ruin the "Piloting a Certain Mech" feel.

I suppose it could've been worse, and we could've had straight table top open building with 20 MLs on everything.

I honestly think that instead of trying to shoehorn in AI or PVE and drastically change what MWO is now, they (or someone) should just branch off a more traditional MechWarrior game that does embody the campaign and simulation style that many want this game to be.

I mean, I'd love to do that if I had a team and authority from PGI to sub-license.

Quirks have really killed SMM. Stock builds just don't feel right, and it's a lot easier to 'meta' the game in stocks now. It still happens, but population is really low currently.

Tbh, I'm seriously waiting for the Dropship mode they announced very early on.
The CW configuration just in PUG. The match searching is the worst and Dropship mode would change that a lot...

Well game like wing commander, strike commander, xwing, MW2 were called " simul-action games " in my country.
When real simulator were called " simulators games" like EF2000, AH64 longbow and others all jane's games.
And FPS were doom, unreal, wolfenstein, shogo ( there is mecha FPS level inside ).hexen and all others.

But ok it's age of COD and candy crush also all this games are now FPS-like DOOM haha...

You are kidding yourself if you think there is roles or classes in the game.

It's either big DPS or small DPS. :P
