As the title states, have you ever killed an enemy, and he kill you at almost the same time? I have been playing for over a year and never ran into this, but when I was on last night on the new European servers (I'm in N.A.), I got a kill AFTER the guy killed me. I am not sure how I did it, seemed some kind of lag was in play as he died after I visually was dead on my screen. Though it all happened in a split second. Not sure if this is a problem with the new European servers or if this happens from time to time to everyone?

I wish I had captured a screen shot, but it was an intense game and I was more upset that I died. In fact I didn't even notice right away until someone else pointed it out. I assumed someone else killed me.

Yes, but it normally happens to me because I hit "OVERRIDE".

Yes. Happens with Missles and Ballistics a lot when damage levels have been even across the board.

You shoot he shoots server calcs and does the HSR determines his hit you you hit him and BAM both dead.

I figured it was possible with Missles and Ballistics, but I run MPL's on my 5SS so I figured it was weird for me to get the kill after I died.

Happened to me for the first time a couple days ago.

Crimson Straights in my Grasshopper. Rounded the corner to enter the tunnel with the hopes of catching a cored Cauldron Born unaware. We fired at the same time and both of us went down.

This can happen by a few means. You can get a kill by ammo explosion, which is not instantaneous so they may die after you do. You can also get a kill from missiles, PPCs or ballistics that were still in flight when you died. Those cases would give the appearance of both dying at the same time, but really one person just dies right before the other does.

If you are the last 2 players, then the winner is the one that died last according to the server master clock.

Did it with my LRM Adder once. Lasered to death, but my LRM 35 landed a split second after I died into the mech's cored CT.
Then there are the typical suicide Airstrikes. Gotten a couple of post death kills with em before.

i have had mutual kill by trading erppc vs gauss shot up close.
as close to "at the same time" as you can get, i think it might even be possible with lasers, though it would be harder to tell

Projectiles take time to travel, so yes, absolutely possible. If you're still not sure, try taking a physics class.

I have actually gotten a tie by dying at the same time as my target, we killed each other with lasers.

He could have fired a projectile just as he died and it would take time to hit you.

Most common thing that happens though is the other guy kills then dies from override.

back in closed beta, I killed a Cataphract just as he killed my Centurian. I thought it was funny... pity I didn't have a video or fraps or anything like that running...

It must have been an ammo explosion then because I was not using missles, PPC's or ballistics. Like I said earlier I understand those take time to travel, I was just confused how I could get a late kill when I run MPLs. I wish I could remember what guns the guy that killed me was running, but it must have been something that used ammo. It was all very close range. I shot an alpha at him, he didn't die. I died a second later before I could fire again, and then he died almost instantly after that. It all seemed so strange.

Well he killed me first so that first part doesn't make sense. I got the kill after he got me.

And for that second part, wouldn't that get marked as him killing himself?

Twice, our killing blows sailed past each other en route to our targets.

Had it happen in a laser brawl once... what are the odds, right? It isn't impossible.

That's awfully pretentious to say for such a simple concept.

With all laser brawls, it's probably something to do with the server lag. You get shot, and you're technically dead when you shoot your lasers, but don't actually die until the server recognizes that you're dead. Your post-mortem lasers then kill your enemy.

Oh, then I'm guessing it's the ammo explosion or the latency difference. I'm sure it's not 100% perfect and the server probably registered you killing him then it also registered him killing you and it just let it happen at the same time.
