Ashrahm, you are indeed right that target info time is not the same thing as lock time, but actually getting the lock requires quickly and effectively breaking any ecm jamming in the area. The BAP is one part of that, or IF YOU are the one using ECM, quickly countering enemy ecm AND excelerating lock time are what you want, so ARTEMIS w Ssrm is recommended. It does drop lock time by 25% as does having the desired target painted by TAG.
BAP is mentioned however because when you are not running ECM, you cannot even begin to lock, starting that time until you pierce the ECM of the enemy, hence its mention. Further, running TAG & BAP on those non ecm mechs make two means to break ecm and begin locking. A third method to remember, often forgotten, is the UAV DRONE. Often, two ecm carrying mechs will partner and try to work tbe edges of tbe map picking off stragglers, scouts and loners. For the inexperienced this shuts down streaks and a double team is never fun, but the UAV combined with an always active counter to ECM, the BAP fully negates both ecms and highlights location of enemy. Having this advantage even after getting you ECM shot oug can be a compelling reason to run both BAP and Guardian ECM. Your own Beagle does not counter your own ECM, neither does it give a seperate jamming effect.
