The light queue is too damn high.

So I'm running already mastered assaults, while I wait for the commotion to die a bit.

I just had a guy complain in all chat that he lost a leg to a SCR that brushed him.

We all "sadface" but won anyway.

I'm sorry, chaps, I can't really respond in the way I was going to. Apparently, this is a topic that brings up a lot of emotions and tension. Have a look at my post above and you'll see what I mean.

Maybe I should start posting on Reddit a bit more, where I can joke around a bit more. Is there a way to export all my hard-earned likes and post count from the MWO forum to my Reddit account, to quickly get some street cred over there? Or will I have to start from scratch? I have a 4-star forum rating on the MWO forum, surely that must count for something.

As sad as it is that something so inoffensive was moderated (Your redacted text can still be read because someone quoted it...) Reddit is not going to scratch your itch for people who aren't so uptight about their robots. I'm not going to defend r/mwo or HPG, because both are terrible for different reasons.

SomethingAwful has some really fun/cool guys to talk and play with, but also some real negative nancies. The MWO thread there is also kinda dead.

you do realize that lights are much faster and should have far more field awareness so you're mostly responsible for getting rammed if you're not looking where you're going

You do realize who you're talking to?

This is hilarious.
What Sky said was exactly my thought.
And this is the answer?
"You do realize who you're talking to?"
What is the meaning of this?
"I am God almighty in person, I cannot be wrong, my will is law"?
No argument provided at all, just a sentence of highest possible arrogance.

Sorry but that kind of behavior sends a definite message.
I spare to write the obvious conclusion or otherwise it will be said that I were the one being insulting while it is actually the other way around.

I have lights and mediums jump in front of me all the time. Many times just as I've hit the alpha button. If the player base didn't act like a group of hungry sharks with a fresh kill, then perhaps all this bumping wouldn't happen! I really think that all the leg damage needs to be toned down quite a bit. I get dropped from a dropship and my legs are fine, but if I jump from the same height, I get leg damage? WTH? We need to raise the TTK, not lower it!

TBH, I get more leg humping at the very start of a match. PGI really needs to space us out just a little bit more. I find this most prevalent on Forest Colony at the lower drop zone. Hopefully this gets fixed when the map gets updated.

PSA to lights: if you play in traffic you're liable to get run over.

This is off memory, so I could be wrong. I think the BT universe has it that the mech drops out of a Dropship with some special one off boosters. This is why even no jj mechs can have a decent landing..

Which is why I do what any good light does and break off to scout at the first safe opportunity. I give the assault mechs their space, I avoid getting rammed, and I avoid getting my lower intestines probed by friendly fire.

That said, the number of times a larger mech has followed me inexplicably, and started gently nuzzling my ass with its face is too damned high.

Funniest things I've witnessed:

1) Friendly ACH stops on a ramp on Canyon Network (don't do that!). One of our Timbys decides to jump over him rather than wait, clips the Cheetah on the back of his head and legs him.

2) Enemy SCat sneaks up behind my Warhawk to get a back-shot, but he hugs me way too close. I stop and do a reverse turn and immediately leg him. I keep backing up, continue to grind into him and take out his other leg too. Killed him without firing a shot.

I will say that the smaller mech has the responsibility to get out of the way. Smaller = more maneuverable and more responsive. A DWolf can't exactly stop on a dime or accelerate quickly, whereas a Cheetah can. Also, if you're a light mech standing in the front of a skirmish line, expect to get crushed or shot from behind. You can't expect your heavies and assaults to hold fire for fear of FF when they're the ones getting shot in the face.

Shoot me with a small laser because you think I should move so you can go where you want and you won't have to worry about where you move for the rest of that match I can promise you that.

So, how do flammers sound?

I'll go grab my Executioner and be right behind you all the way.

If you Lights quit suddenly parking yourselves right in front of us Heavies/Assaults while moving, and especially when corner peeking, that would be great.

Ah, I love that. A Firestarter poking at a target at extreme MLAS range quite obviously has right of way over a DireWolf with more firepower than the Missouri. I love it even more when they deliberately place themselves in front of you.

As for the OP, not all mechs are as capable as lights at changing direction. Most of my Assaults corner like a greased whale on rollerskates. I don't even bother maneuvering to try and avoid triggering the clang sound bite when lights are around anymore, because it's utterly futile.

^ The situation described is just about every one of my "lost legs to a friendly" experiences. I purposely run away from the team as the game begins. I don't want them near me, because they don't look at where they are going. I find a nice piece of cover to play peekaboo and being to disect an enemy heavy/assault. *stomp stomp stomp* right as I am backing into cover, which I have been doing repeatedly for about 30 seconds, I hear *clang* - friendly heavy ran right into me, blocked me out in the open AND took off my leg in the process. So now enemy Dire Wolf has more than 0.2 seconds to line up his gauss, and he rails me.

And then the heavy says it's my fault for being in the way....

Lights need to back up way more often than other mechs. DON'T GET RIGHT UP BEHIND A LIGHT.

1)Nobody should be standing right behind another teammate.

2)Most lights "Jump" right in front of where the heavy/assault firing line is, then proceed to get legged, shot all to h*ll(by both sides), and then call out the team for being a "Bad" team. It seems to happen in terra therma the most. I wish I could just watch the matches there. I'd need to get out the popcorn!

This isn't restricted any weight class...

Last night, Canyon, I have a friendly SCR sitting blocking a ramp, so I JJ over him in TBR, solely to AVOID damaging him, and he immediately decides to then follow me, run through my mech, and stop stock still in front of me...

I may have accidentally had a finger slip on my mouse after that...and he may have ended up with less back armor...The universe is funny like that.

It really is every class right now though, it's as though within the past week half the player base has forgotten how to play the game. Never have I seen so much FF, blocking, running into friendly mechs, or crawling up each other's asses.

"Oh, I see collision damage has been increased to stupid levels, I better see what the inside of my team's mechs look like!"

Not a great fan of this new collision code - causing leg damage while you remain stuck to the other player.

Light mechs stopping on ramps while the assaults are right behind you - like standing on the tracks with a train coming.

The broken collision damage aside, the PSA for lights should be-"If you're standing still at any time, you're doing it wrong."

I'm not biased against lights, I do half my piloting in them, but I do know that if I ever stand still at all, I am making a mistake, whether it's near/in front of friendly mechs, or anywhere else on the map.

The credo of the light pilot is "Speed is life, life is speed." When you can die to almost anything's alpha in one go, or by being stepped on, stopping anywhere whatsoever is akin to drinking the kool-aid after watching all your friends drop dead from doing the same.

So if you're a light getting stepped on frequently, chances are extremely high it's your own fault. Unless it's at a spawn point.

All that said, collisions are still borked to hell right now....
