How does it work? If i mute the mic, is it just the mic? Or will it also block text/ignore the person?

I am pretty sure mute will only block VOIP chat from the muted person, if you want to block text chat as well you will need to go to options and disable the relevant chat type, but that blocks everyone not just the person you want muted.
to mute someone click the speaker icon next to there name ether on the "ready up" screen or bring up the list by holding down tab (unless you have remapped it)
