For instance, why am I stopped from investing the money to upgrade my small laser on a HBK-4G to a medium if I eat the .5 tonnage somewhere?
I understand customization can be a very tricky thing to balance in a game like this, even at the 3025 level, but pure stock mechs rarely hold my interest. Not because I can't do well in them, but because there are little things that bother me... or the fact that I want to run a proxy mech [for instance I can't use a Grasshopper with 2ppc 2mlas 2slas and an SRM4 pack as a proxy for a Warhammer 6K, or a Cataphract 3D to proxy for a standard Marauder]
That's literally, the only thing keeping me from agreeing to your game mode, I just find no fun in pure stock. There's too many little, tiny things that bother me about the stock mechs that I can fix with minor alterations to them that don't break the role of the mech. Armor levels being one of the biggest offenders.
The idea of this "game mode" is to challenge yourself and use mechs that are not optimized and that you are not completely comfortable in. Also, this will just be private matches with players who agree to these rules, if it is not something that you are interested in, then just move on and play the game however you want, no hard feelings.
