I minor "issue" for sure, but when you do changes to your mech and save, the image in the mech selector tool will update reflecting your mech collors and loadout. A cool feature, only the new images are a lot brighter than the old. A little too bright actually, making the images look washed out. My white MadCat is just the collor white with close to no details...

Make sure your brightness and gamma is normal (0.5) when editing camo. After that you can turn in up again.

Yeah, way too bright for me too - you can't actually see the camo being displayed at all - I guessed right away it was a gamma issue, but then again this game pretty much requires a high gamma setting, and it's a right ballache having to remember to knock down your gamma, then edit, then go back & re-edit...

Should be independent of gamma, or in-game visual quality settings, etc...

Am I going to see better quality portrait images if I bump my settings up to highest quality first?
Then do I have to remember all my custom settings again when I re-enter gameplay?

Bit of a fumble on this otherwise great feature by PGI.

I agree that it is a bit weird for your personal gamma settings to affect the portrait.. not like it's a screenshot right? At least I hope that's not how they worked it.

looks like it works that way. screenshot the mech with high brightness -> thumbnail now has double brightness

No it's not - I tried by rotating my mech backwards before saving the "image", and the mech still had the regular orientation in the portrait..

They might have thought about the rotation and made it fixed for the split second the screenshot happens. (as thats obvious the first thing they would think about. They might however overlooked the brightness settings

Since the new system just takes a screenshot, if you got ur gamma and brightness up, the new pictures are going to be brighter than the preset images they took of the default loadout mechs

You can clearly see the differencess here.

The overly bright mechs are camo saved on high brightness/gamma settings.
The warhawk, zeus, stalkers and victors are saved on 0.5 brightness/gamma settings.
The trails are the standard mwo thumbnail.

Maybe the system needs to normalize gamma/brightness before taking the screenshot

That would be my suggestion.

Its funny because somehow it actually multiplies the brightness.

The brightness on the default pictures matches that of your rendered mechbay on the right. But the new ones are significantly brighter than your actual mechbay

Huzzah! We can adjust gamma and brightness again! they took it away because people were using maxed out levels instead of heat or thermal vision on river city night, since heat/thermal are crap. So just set them back to 50% in the Video menu, fixed.
