Haven't played MWO in more than a year now. By saying that I mean playing in terms of serious playing, not dropping 1-2 times per months to see how the game looks. I did that.

I gathered some friends and we played about 20 matches in the german afternoon. We played at least 60% of these matches with the same 21 people, the group queue was incredibly empty.
I even spent money on this game and I did not regret it!

Is anybody else doing this comeback?

I also feel like, whenever this game comes out on steam, we should introduce big, bold, red flashing messages saying "DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME ALONE!!! IT IS ANOTHER GAME WHEN PLAYING IN A TEAM!!!"

The game certainly is not friendly when trying to duo with a newbie friend. Should the Steam horde try to play with some of their friends, they will get their arses handed to them. :P

Glad you had fun with a group. Preimium time's xp and cbill bonus is nice. Having it also lets you use all the options in private matches when you do them. Playing with a group is defintly more fun than droping solo. I'm not sure if you use the in game voip or TS3 but that also can make groups funner since you can communicate that way in heat of fire fights instead of hurried texts in game.

I'm not sure on time zone diffrences but for me I find group que to be full on the n. 'merca server after 5pm when most are getting of work then drops around 10 or 11pm as they get ready for another day. Try diffrent times and servers to find higher population in group que. Your ping will vary. We have three that I know of: N America,Euopean, and Oceananic.

As for steam this game needs more than I can say in a single post to make it a success on steam. You are very right on new players needing to know this is a team game and not a rambo robot shooter.

I still have the premium time from the Urbie pack active, 20 days left, the grind is waaaay better.

I was saving MCs for mechbays, then the House Pattern promo happened, then All The Colors...Now i need more MC for mechbays. Damn you, PGI, get away from my pockets :(

Why didn't you all just use private matches? That's where the real fun would be!

MY favorite "feature" is the premium search function.

You know when you have MWo running with premium time activated and you press the launch button and the search wheel spins and spins and spins looking for a match all the while spending your premium time.

If it takes 6-8 minutes to play a match I probably spent 3 minutes watching the "premium search" feature in action...awesome!

I haven't played in several months, I fired up the game last night, noticed all these new toys from all the packages I bought, and the new mech lab layout. Per usual I ended up getting 'lost' in the lab stripping / outfitting for a couple of hours without even trying to play...some things don't change. I noticed the year of premium time I had ran out (had all that time banked from the prior packages I bought which was all of them), however I still have banked time from the new packages I've bought and will get more from the ones that have yet to be released...I think I'll get close to another year or 6 months of premium time from the new ones.

How is the game nowadays? I stopped right as they introduced the faction warfare / the inner sphere package that came out around that time.

Self quoting, because just a few moments after i've posted this, PGI announced the 50% Off Mechbay.

You know I hear this a lot, but I have a hard time seeing any difference with other online competitive games. Whenever I try a new online game out I wind up getting my butt kicked over and over and over. This is true even for the big AAA titles with huge populations.

I really don't think MWO is all that different in terms of smashing new players for the first week or two of play. I have yet to find a game where the multiplayer opponents were at or below my level when I start out.

If anyone is looking to buy perm time looks at the mech packs . Something like the 20$ urban pack coming with 1 month of time makes a good deal.

I have, when I started playing League of Legends and Hearthstone. There were some incredible noobs in there. ;)

In MWO though, getting owned is real. I had 0.25 WLR for almost half a year after I entered the beta. This is from a guy who had played a lot of previous MW games on multiplayer mode.

But then I would have to stick with these terrible things... I can't sell stuff.

Well I can't speak to your hearthstone experience, but mine was painful. I was never into card games so I basically went into the game as a blank slate well after the game had launched and just got ruined.
