Hi,

I live in London, been having two technical situations.

For a while, I've not been able to get into lobby. I don't know if it is EU (average ping 30) or NA (average ping 92), as I click play, and then it goes to loading, and the yellow wheel just keeps going round.

So I ctrl-alt-del, bring up task manager, close program and load again. I then re-join. However, this has resulted in the last 2 of 3 games with my mech being attacked and one of the first to die on the forest colony map just as I get into the game. Bigger maps give me more leeway. But it is not fun anyhow.

I shall have to keep an eye open for which server it is, EU or NA, but it is annoying and only happens in the evening for around 3-4 hours. Doesn't happen any other time.

Sometimes ping is around 500. I normally spot this in the lobby, quit game and re-load and re-join and my ping is back to as it should be. Again, only during peak time in the evening.

Anyone else getting this problem? Better still is this a known problem that is being fixed, as I know the EU server wasn't optimised on being opened.

Sounds more like on your end, ISP, Devices, etc.

What kind of computer you running?

Do you have a decent and stable Connection?

Are you just not waiting long enough at the loading screen? It can take some time to get into games.

There is also the Cancel/Connect Bug. You will see yourself stuck searching and when you hit cancel its locks up and throws you into the match.

My suggestion would be to STOP ctr alt deleting out the second you hit a hiccup and let the game do its thing. How long are you waiting before you use Task Manager to end the Program? There is no such thing as a lobby (per say) in Normal queue really. You sit and wait until the MM finds a game for you then you get into the game.

CW has a true(ish) lobby as you sit and wait for your 12 team mates before going into the Match Prep screen.

But it sounds to me like you are just not waiting long enough to get into games....patience is a virtue.

Thanks for responding, but your advice is not going to solve any of my problems, as it is not my end.

Anyway, had 3 more games and had to ctrl-alt-del out of all of them and rejoin.

Always in peak. Going to stop playing now. Wait until after peak.

Okay, just loaded game again, and this is what happened.

Clicked play now. -> loading screen...then the spinning circle. Waited a long time, knowing it wasn't going to load. Ctrl-alt-del, screen flickered back and fourth. Pressed ctrl-alt-del and heard mech. Went back into game without closing program.

Totally missed the lobby (or whatever you want to call it) and saw everyone else already moving. 1 dead either side.

Saw an enemy mech and all my shots went right through, ping also at 300, so exited game and program.

Now I came back to mwo this year just as euro server was a few days up, and read there were problems...and I found that to be true. Yet I'm seeing this problem persisting whenever I play roughly between 20:00 - 00:00. During the day this is not a problem.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of packet loss taking place?

My question is, when I log into MWO and go to the mech-lab, etc, is that all based in Canada, and only when you go to a match do you then get sent to another server (game servers), of which there are now 3.

I'm wondering if there is a choke-point in the network between me and the servers, but then I live in London, which should have a very good internet connection...but then again, that doesn't necessarily mean the case.

However, I'm missing the lobby stage completely...so taking that again...

Mech screen -> loading -> lobby -> game/match

I'm getting this...

Mech screen -> loading -> game/match with high ping

I know that I have to bring up task manager to close the program and re-join.

Planetside 2 has good ping all times of day, so I don't think it's my side.

I could be going in the wrong direction with this one, but that's all I got so far...

Is there a technical thread somewhere? I didn't see one to post this in.

I gave hardly any advice because I need to find out the situation BEFORE i tell you things that may or may not work. I tried to ask the EXACT questions Support will ask you when you email them to try to get the game working.

Just because you live in london does not have to mean you play on EU peak time...lots of peeps have lots of different schedules. You can play in different peak times...which is what i was asking.

BTW have you tried just running the repair tool? Support will ask you if you did this first....

They will ask for a the same things i just asked you for and if you tell them what you told me as basically saying you "Know more then me" in fewer words you wont get a great response. Which is what happened when you responded to me.

Send them a traceroute (they are going to ask for it anyway) and see what is going on.....

and again, putting up videos of you uninstalling a game doesnt mean anything.....What did you mean to portray to me by posting that video? I have a decent amount of skill with computers too, I build them, Trouble shoot them, can physically fix motherboards, replace capacitors, fix monitors....lots of us here are skilled with computers and games. So just assume you are going to be asked trivial questions for a while until the solution is found i dont know many IT places that dont start with the easy sh*t first and then move on to more skilled fixes as the problem still persists. Just funny the guy with the "EGO" is trying to help the one who is posting videos of him doing some pretty basic computer stuff for the most part toting how skilled her/she is.

but anyway....email support@mwomercs.com

good luck

If anyone else is having this problem, then please let a tech know, and me if you can!

I'm gathering ping times over the weekend as feedback.

Obviously I can't give out the addresses as I have no permission to, but if anyone is finding home/mechlab working okay, but is having trouble entering the game after that, then please say.

I live in the Midlands and I have similar ping to you but I have zero issues connecting. A friend of mine who lives nearby often has disconnects or hangs when joining a match during peak time and has to relog to jump back in.

The difference is I'm on fibre and he's on pretty bad old style "broadband".

What is your internet type/speed?

Alternatively, and it could be a long shot, long access times could very well be a corrupt hard drive where the MWO is trying to access a corrupted part of the hard drive but it can't.

What OS do you run? Have you upgraded to W10? Have you had multiple clients installed in the past and/or the test server client? Have you run the repair tool from the client loader?

My gut feeling here is that you have an internal hardware issue I'm afraid.

Sadly, it is not quite so...

I think the server allocaton program they are using is unsuitable to the increasing load.

I have no argument againt my fellow mech-warriors or the people who make and facilitate the game.

I assure you, that they do have a coding issue.

I think, with all respect, that their code is becoming fragmented when re-allocating from home sever, to game server.

Tornado jet figter - 58 million lines of machine code...

Space-shuttle - around 6 million lines of machine code....

Sucks don't it!

It's on your end, buddy, I can even tell you exactly why.
First off, you're on cable. Secondly, you're living in a big city. From 20:00 to 00:00 is internet usage peak, and cable connections suffer during that time. You get horrible connection and packet loss
And last but not least there's the fact you're the only one with that problem, but hey, it's totally PGI's fault...
