Could we please get a grace period (eg: a couple of minutes) for editing posts?

As it stands editing a post, even if it's just seconds later, will automatically flag it as edited.

What's wrong with that? If you need to edit it, you need to edit it... why not have the notification?

Oh, I don't know, may be because it's the quietly agreed upon standard for a majority of the forums in existence today. May be because it's ugly and an extra line at the bottom of every post. May be because some of us value spelling and grammar, so we go back to correct any obvious mistakes. Because the ENTIRE PURPOSE of the "edited by" note in forums is to let others know the person's post was edited after someone replied or quoted them and not necessary for anything else.

(slaps own face) UGGH!! I thought I was picky. Sorry, Cipher, but I'm just not seeing your point, here. It's been a part of every single forum I've ever run, or been a member of, or both. It's there, it's not really all that ugly, and if you want a clean post with all of the appropriate spelling in place, you should prepare your post first in Word or NotePad, spell-check it there, and then post it. Finally, if you're editing your post AFTER someone's responded to it, that's pretty ignorant as far as I'm concerned, because the only people who are going to read it are those that come after the response was already made, not the person/people it may be aimed at.

Now, if you really don't like it all that much, simply edit your post a second time, and the ugly little edited note will go away.

I don't think you've read and understood what I'm asking for. I'm not asking for removal of this "edited by..." note. I'm asking for a grace period like just about every single other forum out there has. Of course no should really need to edit a post after others have read it or responded to it. And the "edited by..." note is fine for that.

Okay, then I misunderstood, and I apologize.

For my part, however, I've NEVER seen a grace period actually used on any forum I've ever been a part of, and that's perhaps three dozen or more, I would estimate. In fact, I just set up my new forum for the unit last night, and it asked me if I wanted to change the default for edit note, and I just left it as is. Anyway, you CAN still edit twice, maybe half-edit the first time, and the other half-edit the second, and it will lose your not on the second update.
