Yeah, I have to echo this sentiment. I don't play competively and have never visited mechspecs, but I've heard of them.

I've been a member of their forum for some time. I posted once or twice.

Sad to see them go.

And yet I never heard of it until today? (I've been around since closed beta, played on comp teams in the past, etc) and NO ONE In the hundreds and hundreds of players I've played with, has mentioned it until I saw this thread.

I know this is perception bias. But, really if it was so good, surely someone good would have pointed it out already...

Well, there are hundreds of little MWO sites out there, so it's easy to miss, but I'm still surprised you haven't heard of them.

My big 3 have always been Smurfy, Mechspecs, and the MWO Heat Simulator from Marthe Pryde. Between those three I'm usually set for theorybuilding as well as shared experiences of mechs I'm unsure about. 1000+ / 1500+ damage club, etc.

It will definitely be missed by me.

If he was it is a big rock, as I have also never heard of the site. I use smurphies, less no with the new interface, but other than that and this forum I've only been to NGNG.

Interestingly, while I read about smurphy's all the time here I have only this once heard of mechspecs.

I just found out that my absolutely favorite website for MWO; "MechSpecs" is shutting it down. I was really sad to hear this news, and it worries me about the future of MWO. I love this game mostly for its deathmatch. But in the end is that going to be enough? Is a Steam Launch going to be enough.

I want to keep this positive (if we can), and come up with ways that would really help MWO make it through the long haul.. Ideas to improve ecm, improve CW, anything you guys can think of that will keep this game going. For me even a imperfect battle tech universe is better than no battletech universe....whats your thoughts.

I went to look at people's ideas for Mauler builds yesterday (like I do whenever I work on a new 'Mech) and I saw that it was down. Then I came on here and read that it's down for good. Definitely sad to see it go.

If you like it make a deal to take it over and run it.

I know this thread is a year old but MechSpecs is still up and running. Now I'm curious to what happened and why it's still running.

And it is gone. Took 2 years it looks like, but I think they finally closed their doors.

Anyone have a new version or similar service out there?
