Lugh; Interesting. I have not noticed much difference when piloting my light mechs, but maybe there is a difference in rewards.
Regarding scouting, what I meant was. Standing right in front of other mechs with a light is not that useful, they are better suited to run some distance in front of other mechs, since they are agile and faster, and as such can respond to enemy movements much quicker, and get your team going in the right direction. Only light mechs I see needs to stay close by is ECM mechs. Escorting heavies and assaults are all very good for mediums and lights, but that does not need to mean you need to be close enough to trample each other. Yet that is something I see way to much happening when you drop with random pugs.
That said, the reason I wrote this thread was not friendly lights, but rather that enemy lights use their ability to prevent larger mechs from moving, and basically fires all they can into their legs. Even if mechs took no damage from it, knockdown would really help solving that issue. You would just push them out of the way, or make them fall over.
