Thats right no matter how fast or far away you are .

all missiles, guass rounds, auto cannons, and even some how lasers are guided straight to your legs .

used to i could pilot this thing pretty well but now all fire almost brings it to a dead stop. all incoming fire hits it.

and to add insult to injury if your engaged in a tussle with another mech your automatically brought down to his speed as his weapons hit you repeatedly.

the changes to hsr has made this mech almost unusable .

gotta try and capture some footage of the lasers bending over the hill to hit me.

im also going to try and drop its speed to 129.6 kph instead of 150 as it seams thats the magic number where shots miss you more .(as i watch the cheetah run through a timber wolf, storm crow, king crab and a dire wolf lasting almost 5x as long if i would have down the same. ) nope .. 126.9 dont do jack on this mech .

I've settled with my X5 as shoot-n-scoot sniper. If you don't let them see those extra tall-seksy legs they can't shoot them. I did support brawler for a while, which aint bad either, but those legs do go quick.

Havent noticed much of a change...

But i peek like mad and really only brawl if we are getting rolled. Those range quirks just scream 'snipe/fire support at range'.

Cicadas are just walking glass cannons anyhow. Just gotta be sneakier.

You can shoot-n-scoot without sniping. The LPL-3 ML combo tends to work well thanks to the quirks giving it Clan laser range, gotta play it like the Fridge that's a little more squishy though.

If the X-5 could drop the missile hardpoint for one extra energy hardpoint, I would love this variant a lot. LPL-4 ML would be amazing with the quirks it got. Though one or two more missile hardpoints in place of more energy would also be pretty amazing.

Don't disrespect the Cicada. It's a good mech but it takes a different play style.

Honestly a lot of the IS lights should really be closer to the size of the Cicada. But... then PGI would have to give them a role besides slaughtering assault mechs so you can see why they didn't.

The only good cicada has ECM, because otherwise they will find you and shoot you.

I don't think it's a bullet magnet (i.e. it takes too much damage) so much as popular target. It's the equivalent of a Panther or a Quickdraw or an Awesome. Players attack it because they deem it an easy target. It doesn't have a lot of firepower to scare people away with. It's meant for brawling, but it's not very good at it, compared to the Blackjack with 8 energy hardpoints or the AC20, for example.

Does this have something to do with the new Oceanic server?

The change in ping might make things work differently than what you were accustomed to.

Old info. The 2B is the best now. But they do all have a bit of "catcher's mitt" about them and you have to manage that.

watching some skirmishes in my x5 im starting to think it just dont handle as well as it used to ,

it seems sluggish to torso twist. (watching a alpha try to keep with a artic cheetah and it just lags behind) and its backing up and forwarding is also quite slow.

which is why it seems to catch hell because it is slower to dodge incoming and allows for incoming to hit their intended target longer.

trying to compensate for it by starting the back track earlier . but not a lot can be done for its torso twisting.

i think it has become more of a sniper than the brawler it used to be.

that is too bad as i used to love dueling in this thing.

Glass cannon? Four medium lasers and a couple SRMs is a cannon now?

Anyway, before quirks, I ran my X-5 with 2 LL. I haven't run it at all much lately. I'd probably go back to that build, though, even with the quirks and the expanded missile tubes.

Depends on the cannon. Hitboxes are definitely made of glass. CT and ST are big and easy to isolate, legs are big, arms dont do much and rarely get blown off.

1LPL3 ML is a decent poke. Not a cannon but the range and duration is nice. 26 damage at @400m at LPL duration is not bad.
Try ERLL in the X5, touch somebody at 810m. 2ERLL or drop to a lower engine for 3ERLL.

4ML + SRM isnt great but the range approaches Clan ERML and the duration is a lot shorter...and cooler.

If the X5 had 1 more E hardpoint it would likely be one of the better Hero's. But it got missiles instead.

Not even close. If you rely on ECM to hide, you need to work on your positioning and timing skills.

You can get a 'free ECM' in any Cicada: stay with your teams assaults and enemy Pugs will focus them down first. Seriously, you escort and help the fat mechs you get prioritized less.
