Is Light Pilots, How Have You Adjusted Your Builds To Account For The Cheeto?

Now, I'm a jenner man (screw firestarters, jenner for life). It was always my favorite light in TT and I've played it since CB so I'm used to it.
I've found that with the superior firepower and similar speed of the cheeto, running away just isn't an option. Even with an XL300 the serpentine pattern you have to run to not get legged or cored means the cheeto can easily keep up.
So... I've slowed some of my Jenners down. I've switched to using an XL280 instead of the customary XL300.
The extra 1.5 tons has been rather helpful with allowing me to out last the hotter cheeto builds.
Slowed down JR7-D(S)
I added ditched half a ton of ammo as well to add 2 heat sinks allowing me to out last the cheeto. Overall I'm quite happy with it.
Slowed down BAP added JR7-K
I've never had too much over heating trouble with my 4MPL k so I added a BAP so my allies can MAKE IT RAIN on the poor cheeto that decided to try and take me out. Plus it's just generally useful.
My oxide always ran an XL280 for the extra 1.5 tons of ammo and I don't see a need to change it. I find that 1v1 against a cheetah, the cheetah just can't put out the kind of sustained DPS I can and that they have a hard keeping their long burn lasers on target when I'm constantly pounding them with 1 SRM4 at a time. So I haven't changed its build at all. Plus if I can sneak up behind them (any light or medium really) they die pretty much instantly.
My JR7 F needs the XL300 to fit the extra heat sink so downgrading serves no purpose. I find myself debating between the SPL and ML but in general I find the ML to be more generally useful but for pure anti light duty the 6 SPL is quite effective. But with the Firestarter having 8 of them... it's just not the best role for JR7-F IMO.
My Raven 3L for CW still runs the standard 2xERLL sniper build. For solo and group queue I'm running a close range Hunter Killer RVN-3L.
My ever trusty Raven 4x, is of course still running an AC20 and a medium laser. I find that AC20s tend to scare away light mechs once you land that first shot so the cheetos tend to leave me alone. If they don't... well... I'm probably gonna lose but I'll be damned if they won't have several holes in them before I go.

I had a laugh when one of them had streaks to put me down during a fight, though. I mean, Cheetos are bad enough, but throw streaks on top of it? Give me a darn break...
Much less effective vs. bigger mechs, I agree. But why in the heck would you prefer to put this weapon that is entirely rock, paper, scissors OP against lights and near useless elsewise on a mech that is already so good at hunting lights it's obscene?
Following hitting double basics, my Cheetos remain sitting in the garage until I'm feeling ultra-sadistic, or they get nerfed.

So...I just don't engage unless they are busy with another target or otherwise distracted.

in practice light vs. light usually winds up in a legging contest, especially with ECM preventing you from seeing vulnerable bits immediately.

Just leg, leg, and leg some more.
Why this is Lostech is beyond my comprehension.
If you treat it more or less like a Firestarter, it's what you have to deal with.

I find that I have to get the drop on them first in a favourable position and that they are alone to ensure that I have the upper hand.
I run 4x ERMLs on my MLX-A

- The lower speed would give you lots of trouble if you want to kill a heavy/assault by staying behind it. Speed is life still applies.
- WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T shoot the Cheetah in the torso. Highly possible you can't kill it that way. Yesterday a crap Cheetah pilot ran around and past my assault 3 times without cover, during which I pumped its torsos full of autocannon rounds and 54 short ranged missiles. That's like 150+ damage and I was extremely sure that it hit. The guy came off of it with yellow torso armor and ran away.
So go for the legs.

Urbanmech > Arctic Cheeto.
Nuff said.

And in a duel...I think I want the FS9, actually.

I chased a few down with this the other day, my lagshield is superior.
Its like a mini-Huggin with SRM2 cooldown and its quirks.
Hat a pretty funny Cat & Mouse chase in Mining Collective when I had enough of one pestery little ACH, and I chased him past his 2 direwolfs and a Banshee after that little chicken tried to run, I beat the crap out of him all the way there and finally got a clean shot on his back for the kill shot, I got dual gaussed in the back trying to make my escape, but at least I got that pos.

I definitely wouldn't slow down my lights for the sake of chasing one of these though, standard protocol is to engage the legs and draw them back into heavier fire.

I lean a lot towards the Cheetah.
If it isn't ECM, it worries less than the Firestarter with its high mounted energy.
It's close and for general purposes, I like the ACH a lot, but for a duel, it gets and stays hotter faster than the FS9-S. Need more seat time in it yet, but it's not super-way-better like some people think, it's the fact that its seems most players haven't learned to only ever shoot their legs that's causing the OP PLZ NERF I think.

I'm still not entirely confident in either. I prefer using 5 CSPL instead of the overboard 6 or 7 (not that it isn't a good option).
People not legging it has been an issue since the start since that's what people have been saying and they still don't do it.
