Hello,
I am fairly new to the game, played a little while in beta, and recently returned. All of my experience is in playing in pugs, I haven't even explored the factions, as I am not sure how it works.
I recall when the player base was much smaller, people used a Teamspeak server to communicate and it made the game really fun. It appears the game has implemented Voip into the software, but I have no idea how it works.
Can anybody please explain how to get the Voip feature working?
Also, will I need to join a faction to have a reasonable chance of finding Voip or Teamspeak teammates?

Please help, I don't know where to begin... getting crushed in pugs with no communication is not much fun.

Thanks..

The built in VOIP is for in game use only, so you'll need to find a group with a TS3 server to talk out of game.

Using the in game one should be as simple as plugging in some headphones and holding Capslock while you talk. Unfortunately most people are rather mic shy, so you might not get any response. Either way it seems that at least enough people listen to hear my calls for help / orders, so it's worth using even if it feels a little like you're talking to yourself.

I'm in a hurry, so I'll answer short for now:

1- In-game voip works only in matches, and the default key is "Caps lock". It helps a lot.

2- You don't need to join a unit, or a faction to find a group. You need TS3 (Teamspeak3). The massive majority of groups, and virtually every faction uses a teamspeak server. It's a free program, and very easy to use.

3- Every faction's subforum has their TS3 info listed there, so you can find them there.

4- When you run into folks there, just say "hi", and ask to group up.

5- Groups play in their own queue, so things will be harder for you there, because everyone will have some semblance of organization. However, you're also guaranteed teammates who are not 100% idiots.
