I will tell you why.

One day Russ was walking to work and tripped over the plug for the CW servers. This caused massive issues with connecting to the CW servers spiraling out of control. Due to this Merc Star took the initiative to leave their planet holdings in tact by taking Darth Paul at knife point and forced him to crash all of MWO servers when PGI tried to go and fix the CW server issues.

Sadly so far Merc Star is still holding PGI staff and Paul as hostages, and this is why we are still not able to play MWO.

Except that Russ is on holiday, but I like the story. Might even be caused by the situation of Terra in CW :)

OK new story:

Clan Wolf is to blame and so is the green bird.

When Clan Wolf and Jade Falcon attacked Terra they started to unplug everything in site, and thought it was a game. Eventually they found a critical plug and disconnected the CW servers. PGI found this to be a problem and went on the counter offensive. Sadly though a few days later PGI suffered great losses in their initial counter attack and have stalled in fixing the problem ... all the while Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon continued their game of unplugging things which caused all of MWO to be shut down.

When will PGI win out against the evil clanners? No one knows.

I think a better suspect are the Death Commandos, their acts espionage and sabotage are more fitting than the Clans screwing around with some HPG gizmos and widgets!

And lets be wary of any Word of Blake sabotage attempts!

The hamster running the servers left to go play Star Citizen... Oh wait. Nevermind. He's back. I guess CIG's lack of content can lose even a Server Hampster's interest.

OK new story:

Word of Blake brought Paul into their fold calling him hence forth DARTH PAUL!!! I know how original, but any way. With their new follower brought into the fold they came up with a plan to take down the servers. First they needed a hack in but sadly their hack was only contained to the CW servers, but since PGI had not found out that Word of Blake had in inside mole they did not see the next attack coming. Darth Paul went in and led an all out attack on PGI from the inside taking down the entire network.

At this time PGI does not know how they will catch these Jihadists but when they do they plan to crush them into oblivion.

It's comstar man... it's pretty much ALWAYS comstar.

Death commandos? Comstar agents leaked the intel.

Genocide? Comstar.

Lost tech knowledge found? Whoops it got misfiled... by Comstar.

No, that's not accurate.

The Paulconomist was released and was last heard shouting "The economy is working as intended..." while roaming the streets of Vancouver...
