It's because most moderators are robots who haven't been programmed to have fun.

I just had some random screenshots removed from a thread because they assumed I was name shaming. I was simply sharing a couple deaths that made me suspicious of bugs in the bugs or cheat thread.

I didn't even get a private message telling me anything had happened.

The mods are certainly a lot more active now than they used to be. The weird thing is that the mods are a lot more worried about posts that are off-topic and silly rather than posts that are passive-aggressive or even openly hostile. A lot of good threads are ruined by forum warrior bravado, and the mods couldn't care less unless someone actually cries uncle and reports the bullies.

TL;DR - Being mean to other people is usually fine. Posting pointless Neverending story gifs will raise hell.

The part you seem to have missed is that it was completely off topic. While the content in and of itself was harmless it was still inappropriate for the thread. Rules are rules.

I don't think the thread was about panda gifs and there's probably not an off-topic checkbox when reporting. In other news, discussing moderation is against the TOS, so I don't expect this to last long.

It's what GenDisc pretty much exists for. When they tried to kill GD a year ago, people just turned the Gameplay Balance section into an improvised GenDisc section lol...As much as some may try, discussion can't really be killed. Slowed down yes, killed no.

In this case that panda is actually somewhat on topic given the first couple posts in here. Either way there was a lot of crap in that thread, and there still is for the most part. You were not the only one that had things deleted.
