Hello Pilots,

I have selected FRR as one of the four(4) Pheonix Medalions I am able to select.

What is the significance of these medalions and how do they affect me or my game?

Thanks for all you help so far, you have made an old man feel welcome,

if equipped to a Mech in the Community Warfare game mode they give you a boost (if I remember correctly, 5%) to loyalty points earned while you have the appropriate medallion fitted for your faction.

loyalty points allow you to gain rank in the faction, at each rank you get some rewards including a new title and depending on rank can include Cbills, GXP and Mechbays.

Community warfare is designed for Unit play, it is quite possible you will come up against an organized 12 person team of expert pilots with fully upgraded and optimized Mechs, against 12 random individuals while you can participate at any time I strongly advise against doing so until you have a bit more experience and have leveled a few Mechs.
when you are ready, for the best possible experience group up ether using the Looking for groups feature, or by joining an organized group

Welcome indeed. If I'm not mistaken you also have another thread with an introduction that I haven't had the luxury of participating in yet so I'll extend my welcome here instead.

The medallion for the Free Rasalhague Republic, if you were to sign a contract with the FRR under the "Faction" tab, will allow you to earn extra loyalty points on each victory. (Not certain if points are awarded for losses.) As mentioned by Rogue above, these raise your "rank" within the faction (this doesn't have any real significance in terms of command structure). At various rank intervals you will unlock 'free' things that will make your life in MWO a bit easier. These unlocks are especially valuable to free players, as some of them (like mechbays) are otherwise difficult to come by.

If you do participate in "Community Warfare" (the faction tab), I highly suggest looking at the map and where the fights are. If the fight is not on the FRR borders, your experience in that fight may be unpleasant as the highest activity is on Clan-IS borders, with a number of new players on both sides. Furthermore, the IS side will be completely random factions while the Clan side will be one specific faction. This is a recipe for disorganized chaos.

Also since the "IS" has been around for a long time, many of the more experienced players are playing as Clans (as there's a lot more 'new' stuff on the Clan side of things for older players as Clans only started to release last year where the IS stuff has been releasing since 2012). There is no skill-based match making, no solo-only queue. It is first come, first served.

If you are playing for the FRR, then fights on the FRR border are where you want to be. Whether against the invading Clans or against the Draconis Combine or Steiner, these fights can help regain or hold territory and benefit your faction. These fights will also have more FRR members or entirely FRR members which will keep your team much more organized and cohesive. Thus, you will have a much more fun experience.

Keep in mind you will be required a minimum of 4 'Mechs at or below 240 tons total, trial mechs are okay but ill-advised. Community Warfare (Faction tab) allows a "4 pilot" system where you will have your lineup sent one at a time into the battle. There's a total of 96 Mechs in each Faction (CW) battle (counting both sides) and the maps are significantly larger than most standard maps.

If your system has trouble playing the game, I suggest avoiding the mode for now.

When choosing to play, take note of the "Cooldown" timer in the upper left. CW will be most active with "2 hours" or less remaining.

Also note that matches launch when both sides have a multiple of 12. 12, 24, 36, 48, etc. If both sides have this, it will launch. A match with 13 / 21 may be waiting a while, but a match with 11 / 12 will launch almost immediately when you join (unless someone beats you into it).

(Back to Medallions: Unless you plan on being dedicated to one team, I suggest your other 3 medallions be for other factions. Though yes, you can pool all 4 for one faction and mount each into your "Drop deck" of 4 mechs.).

Final thing: Mounting your medallion. Click the following in game: Mech select; (Choose mech to put it in). Mechlab; Cockpit. "Hanging (something)." Ensure it is equipped and save.

Congratulations on your Phoenix Medallions, and good luck.
