Ok, I am not exactly new but I need help nonetheless choosing a new clan mech.

Currently my clan mech bay holds: MLX, KFX, ADR, SCR, MDD, HBR, TBR, WHK and DWF and since there is a sale going I'm interested in new mechs that open new possibilities for unusual CW drops. I usually drop: 2xSCR 2xHBR and 3xSCR TBR.
But as of late out of boredom I'm trying odd drops with other mechs but I have a hard time making the total tonnage add up nicely while having a not too gimped drop and being able tor replace some mechs depending on map with viable alternatives.
Finally, I'm totally going to buy ACH, SCT and EBJ, so to be honest I don't think any of the currently available mechs has long lasting value to me but still, a sale is a sale I got the C-Bills and the bays.

So far I have four candidates: IFR, NVA, SMN and GAR.
IFR and NVA are mediums which is good becuase I only got SCRs so far.
But I have an idea of a dakka-brawling SMN that is alluring to me and I've seen GAR packs do some nasty stuff.

Sell me your favourite mech, please :P

EDIT: Sorry I do have HBRs, I forgot to list them in the main list.

If I were you I would go for Nova's. Why? Because they are a good support for your Clan Dropdeck!

First get yourself the Nva-A with 2 PPC's, then the prime for some good close range stuff (also very fun at public drops).

If you were Inner Sphere, I would have recommended the Hunchback HBK-4J a lot of people bag that particular model out because it does not boast ballistic weapons and relies more on energy and missile weapons and has no jump jets, but really, the way I have customed it (as a long range support fire 'Mech, it is by far my favourite (2nd only tothe CRB-27 Crab), it is an excellent 'Mech to pilot in almost any drop (match).
But since you are Clan, maybe I would suggest a Hellbringer or Stormcrow, depending on your style of play.

OP already has HBRs.

I would personally go for the Nova, or Summoner out of the 4 listed candidates. Especially with CW in mind. The Gargoyle can work, but I think the nova will be more suitable tonnage wise, while packing similar firepower

Yes I got HBR, somehow I didn't list it in the main mech list.

Also I am not an clan pilot just an untrustworthy backstabbing merc who has his share of IS mechs.

Thanks for the input so far. I am not surprised to see Nova's name mentioned strongly, it does seem to make the most sense, but for some reason it doesn't ring right since it looks too similar to some other stuff I have, oh I'm still undecided :(

Brizna mentioned one of his standard drop-decks features Helbringers, so I assume he just forgot to add them to his list of owned chassis.

as for which Mech to get;
I also would advise Nova out of your list of chassis, I do not love any of the chassis on your list but the Nova gives you the most options, especially if you are planning on getting the wave 3 Mechs later, it has capabilities that none of the other current Clan Mediums Mechs do.
just a word of warning DO NOT try to fill all 16 possible hardpoints unless you are realy good at heat management, a 12 laser alpha strike will cause you to over heat and with 12ERML there is only about a 50% chance you will survive the overheat damage if you fire while moving (hot maps you will die, cold maps you will not die unless you were running hot before alpha striking average temperature maps you may or may not survive)

the ACH outclasses the IFR in every way except armor,
the SMN is only good if you are after the jump-jets and do not mind running with just a few big guns
I cannot really speak for the GAR, I tried it and hated it, but there are those who love it

Oh btw, these are some of the builds I've ran on my NVAs, and SMNs:

NVA-1, 2 punch

NVA-S basically

NVA-Cooler S

SMN-Gunslinger

SMN-Big gun

SMN-LRMwars

OK yes, that does seem to make a lot of sense the thing that makes it not too appealing is this: What is the difference between a BJ3 and 2xERPPC Nova? Other than BJ3 being more fragile but smaller and with better hard points?

I haven't played that Nova, can't say for sure but it doesn't seem exciting at this moment.

Still I have to grudgingly agree that from a CW drop point of view it does make a lot of sense. The thing is, can you do anything useful with a Nova other than PPCtart?

the 2 PPC nova is mainly for CW matches, damage over time builds are bit problematic and hit or miss in pugging.

12 small lasers work really well in public drops

targeting comp 1 + heatsinks + full armor,be sneaky.

Bwa hahaha. Ha... Hoo, that's a good one.

The Ppc Nova is my least favourite of the Blackhawks, well, expecting wierd things like large laser builds or ac builds. I figure, you got prime arms, why not use em? So, the 12 er mediums build is one of the most vicious mid range poking mechs I have ever seen, and fully mastered can fire three arm salvos before retreating to cool. You win trades. I still keep my Prime Classic. However, Since I like to brawl, it doesn't see as much use as the 12 er smalls. Add in more heat sinks, quad machine guns, or triple AMS to flavour.

Tell you what, grab a Ryoken, slap 12 Small pulse and heat sinks on it, take it for a spin, and decide if you like the brawling, or er Mediums if poking's more your thing. If so, grab a nova. It'll be a bit slower, but with jump capacity will allow some great ambushes.

I suggest three Blackhawks an a Man'O'War. It's a nice drop deck, though with the extra tonnage I expect you'd pack two Ryoken to fill your drop. Or you could go a safer Madcat, Loki, Blackhawk, Blackhawk drop, and not purchase a 'Goyle, since it is pretty hefty. Honestly though, it's been hard to find a mech that feels better'n a nova. (That is, until I hit upon my Giant Nova 'Goyle build with 12 energy hardpoints. Woo! Go Short ranged brawling!)

How about doing something unusual that could give you more fun than just buying a new mech? I won't give a single mech recommendation.
Instead i throw a tactical guide your way that will make you lift your eyebrows reaaaally high.
Make you play the game in a new way that brings more.....fun times to MWO. I've been called "Loon" amongst other things because of these tactics.

It's a set of tactics that makes MWO into an almost completly new game althogeter because there will be a lot more......cliffhangers.
As a matter of fact you don't even need to make a mech into a specialist within a certain range with this.
You don't even need to look at quirks that much when chosing your weaponloadout.
You do need a fairly high amount of speed but my Cute Fox can handle it with it's relativly low speed for a light mech.

Here is how i do it-
Non Meta Light Mech Tactics Guide.

You will probably end up doing one of these things if you decide to read that guide.
- Hate it because those tactics takes a long time to adapt to.
- See how big of a textmonster it is and run away.
- Decide that i'm completly insane and should receive treatment in the loonybin.
- Try the tactics but get slaughtered in the beginning as you adapt. Then decide that you love making people run around like headless chickens looking for you.
