I think this decision and current issue could have been addressed beforehand if we were able to vote yes I like the new glass or no keep the old.

This new glass was a huge step back in terms of look and immersion. When I heard all new glass in the patch notes I got excited because the first time it was added it was perfect (to me), I had no issues seeing though it have had it on since it came out. Now I want it off, it looks low texture, and no offense bad. I thought it was going to be improved, effects added, etc, because the option was there to turn it off.

I have a question for a Developer willing to step forward and answer my question.

Are you able to see what settings we have applied in the game? If we all turn off glass will you see it and our voices may be heard?

Agreed.
I absolutely HATE the new Cockpit glass.

I used to run with it on, when it was the old one, but now? I turned it off and keeping it that way, until changed.

However, i'm positive that there are people that like this new glass more (maybe because of less glare or whatever), so the best thing possible was if we were given a CHOICE.
In the options menu, where you can choose to enable the cockpit glass, it'd be nice if we could choose "Enable old", "Enable new", "Disable".

I can't speak for the new one, but... You liked the old cockpit glass? Really? With its bizarre glare issues from external light sources behind your cockpit, even when you're in the shade?

I dunno how that could be immersive for anyone, it was totally illogical.

There's a new cockpit glass? How is it different?

I believe that was fixed quickly, I should say I liked the heavy use of the texture and tint of the original, as for the wonky glair issue it was due to the outside light source coming in from the back if I remember it was an easy fix.

I turned the old cockpit glass off in the user.cfg file a long time ago. Only time I've seen cockpit glass since was when there was a glitch that brought it back.

The old cockpit glass, despite its weird and illogical bugs, at least looked like battle-worn glass. It had scratches and cracks and smudges. It was a voluntary handicap for people who wanted the immersion. The new cockpit glass is entirely pointless. It just makes the edges of the screen discoloured and that's it. It adds zero immersion.

There is an option to turn it off, isn't?

I could care less about new or old glass. What they need to fix is the vision modes. Heat and Night vision suck and are barely usable in most cases. Then when you have to use them they are barely usable unless you turn your gamma ALL the way up.

This^ Aside from some mech with super small cockpit/glass that made the scratch too dense(Locust) it was great. We never be happy but the old glass only needed fixing not a "revamp".

It's a damn sun protective tint. Cars have it, but it's usually black. And it's just on the edges, not your main glass, so what the hell else is wrong?

Agreed, I don't like the visor strip tint, looks tacky. Old glass was better.

Probably the best MechWarrior title ever made (definitely my favorite). I had the standard MechWarrior 3 and Pirate Moon. Loved them.

Anyway, I've had the cockpit glass off since the new mechlab released. I had to go up to 900 resolution, so I turned off the glass in case it adversely affected framerate.

I can't say if the new glass is better, but from the screens, it at least appears less intrusive (even if it looks like 1980 car windshield solar tint).
