As the title suggests, which of the Res 2 mechs will be the best on the battlefield? Personally, I think it's between the Wolfhound & Black Knight.

The Wolfhound is a humanoid which implies good hitboxes. It's all energy & high mounted. It might not have JJs but one variant will be the fastest 35 tonner. I see that variant being a faster non-jj FS9-A. (I predict low T1)

The Black Knight should be strong simply because it's all energy with a high engine cap (375, as fast as a Twolf). The only question is it's hitboxes. It might have "backpack" syndrome though. (I think it'll be a solid T2)

The Mauler looks like it'll be tons of fun but super slow. I think it's lack of speed will keep it from being special. (T3)

The Crab... It's all about the hitboxes. It might be stuck using a standard, which isn't world ending thanks to it's abundance on energy mounts. Also, only one variant has JJ. (High T3)

I'm pretty certain there aren't any duds in this pack. They generally look solid. Obviously, quirks can and probably will change most of this but until PGI releases those, these are my predictions.

Mauler-2P has 3 energy points per arm. I am gonna have fun with those. :D

And if the Mauler Hero has more than 4 missile hardpoints, it will be insta-buy for me.

The Mauler being T3 may have been a little harsh. It's firepower obviously will make it a fearsome foe. I'm willing to bet it's sluggishness will make it vulnerable to lights. It won't be T1 without epic quirks though, T2 at best.

I'm looking at the Mauler with 3 ballistic slots on each torso, should be a good Warhammer stand in.

Except that we knew those would be OP based on what you could put in them. Mauler MIGHT be OP with 4AC5 IF it has amazing hitboxes. That said, even if you could put 4AC5s hard mounted on a Stalker, would it even be OP? It probably would but purely bcause it has hitboxes built for staring. Mauler is a humanoid assault so I don't see how it could have better hitboxes than a Zeus and even the Zeus can't stare.

As many have said, quirks are the only thing that could make these OP. Just look at Resistance 1. Only the Panther that got an essay's worth of quirks and the energy Enforcer that got OK quirks are viable.

Nothing in Resistance 1 was OP at all; there's no reason to expect that anything in R2 will be.

Yeah none of these 4 will be OP. I've no doubt that the Wolfie will be quite strong. As strong as a FS. The BK will be strong simply cuz big engine + lazors, assuming passable hitboxes. The Crab may turn out to be a mini Stalker. The energy & missile Mauler could be pretty interesting.

Unfortunately only one of the Black Knights can take an XL 375 ( the 4th variant). I'm planning on sticking with an XL 350 for the others. It will be good if it has good quirks, otherwise any loadout utilizing 9 energy hardpoints will not have good range and will have too much heat.

The Tbolt 5SS is a med pulse boat, not much range there. But I meant more that the BK will be fast. Could do quad lpls & fire em in pairs.

I think the JJ crab will only be the best of Resistance Pack 2. Full energy boat and JJs lends to some decent options.

The runner up may just be the XL315 Wolfhound, though the tonnage trade at that point would be pretty bad.
