Unless you're in the bottom tier it will be harder no matter what now. It's going to be much harder to take a low end mech like a locust or vindicator.

At least that's my feeling from playing group q then playing in public q.

As a veteran Mechwarrior player, but not a particularly great player, I've been thinking about this as well.

In a medium or heavy mech, I would guess I am a bad Tier 2 or good Tier 3. In an assault mech or light mech, probably a modest Tier 4.

How will the new system account for this? If I am piloting a Mauler, and I assure you I would be a hideously bad Mauler pilot, is it going to stick me at Tier 2/3 because I'm good at killing things in a Hunchback/Enforcer/Stormcrow?

At least I'm looking forward to finding out more and playing in a new system: ELO was a trainwreck, with Vets like me foaming at the mouth to farm kills off of some newbie in a trial mech wondering why so many people were bee lining for them at once. (run-on sentence, I know. Too much coffee.)

Thought ELO was for each chassis/class of mech?

ELO was divided by classes: Light/Medium/Heavy/Assault. We don't know for sure, but it doesn't look like PSR is divided the same way.

From another thread: No, PSR is only one score. So if you are a ****** Assault pilot like me, good luck on your upcoming Mauler grind.

Even if they're divided into classes. My locust is more around a tier 4 and my arctic cheeter(or firestarter) is around a tier 1 or my timber is around a 1 and my highlander is around a 4.

Well, finally time to say goodbye to those mechs who aren't tier 1. It will be something special to see a wild Kintaro prowling in the higher tiers.

I would have thought most people on high tiers would have plenty of GXP built up to skip any grinding on new mechs.

I have well over 400,000 GXP - but it is a force of habit for me to master mechs via combat.
I have stocked piled the GXP should changes be made to require their spending...

Quite the opposite actually, it means pilots who pilot bad mechs will be lower tiers and can actually have more fun with them not dying so easily.

I hope they take into account that an Assault does more damage with same skill as lighter mechs etc.

On the bright side, those players piloting light mechs with absurd hit boxes will quickly climb the tiers, out of my group and eventually run into a brick wall.
