E.g.
Red team:
Tier 1: 4
Tier 2: 6
Tier 3: 2
Blue team:
Tier 2: 1
Tier 3: 0
Tier 4: 11
What does that accomplish exactly? One could take a screen cap and then compare who did what in Match and make some gross assumptions who was whom? Very scientific... not.
P.S. In your example, the Blue Team numbers, if compared to a screen cap, would give up who was the ONLY T2 players quite easily, no?

Edit: Since there seem to be people genuinely afraid of having their tiers known, just as there are people who would like to broadcast their tier for the sake of competitiveness, I recommend that PGI make tiers available privately with a check box next to them that says, "Show publicly?" That would allow the private individuals to maintain said privacy while folks that are more competitive, such as myself, can check the box and let our tier be shown publicly on our profile pages.

I don't play enough to be elite, but I play enough to have curiosity about where I (and others) stand.

This is exactly why any sort of public, or even optionally public, PSR would be something of a disaster on the forums.
Too many people - like dear Lugh Nut up there - would use it as a club to beat down anyone who said anything they didn't like for any reason whatsoever. Even the popular "player opt-in/out" option lands us right back here: anyone who opts out of displaying their PSR rating would be automatically assumed to be doing so because they're a T5 scrub who should shut up forever, uninstall the game, and also probably go hang themselves in the bathroom in shame.
It's just too damn easy to misuse the tool for abusive purposes. I voted for Private, as I do believe it's fair for a player to know where they stack up, but even that will be prone to abusive "post a screenshot of your tier or GTFO" posts from jackalopes who figure that raw twitch skill is the only thing that should ever matter when lobbying for/against changes or proposing ideas in MWO.
Or, to put it short: if the information is available at all, in any way, expect anyone who isn't T2 or higher to learn they can pretty much just stop posting forever, because nobody will pay attention to anything they say ever again.
Blegh.

Just don't want MWO going the way of WOT,with players looking down on others not as good etc.It really can bring out the worst in some people.
