At the "Refreshing Data" stage of purchase activity, my MWO game client intermittently "hangs":enters a state in which it sits forever, with the graphics that usually "spin" frozen, displaying "Refreshing Data", and never recovers. As far as the underlying OS (Windows) is concerned, the process is unresponsive.
Workaround: physically crash the MWO game client via Windows, and restart. (I play in windowed mode, precisely for this sort of eventuality, so I simply terminate the window).
This seems to have started happening with a recent (August) patch. However, I have been away from the game for a couple of weeks, so I can't pinpoint when the behavior appeared.
Don't know why this is happening, but it would be more effective for the game client to detect this halting behavior, effectively "time out" the "refreshing data" process, and restart it. Perhaps the protocol employed to "refresh data" could be made more modular/incremental, so the game client could resume data transfer from various checkpoints in the process.
