Timbie, with its great distribution of hitboxes. Accept no substitutes. Hellbie is bit fragile. Epic BJ even more so thanks to its protruding CT.

Timberwolf, Hellbringer, Ebon Jaguar. EBJ plays just like a slimmer Timberwolf and its absolutely fantastic. Hellbringer is a bit squishy but with ECM and smart piloting that isn't an issue. Timberwolf is probably the easiest because of its heavy armor, good hitboxes, abundance of podspace and jumpjets (which it shouldn't have but oh well).

As a side note the Summoner SHOULD be good but for various reasons, it has been royally screwed out of being useful pretty much ever.

Pretty much this. I run 2 cMed Pulse, but the core of the build is the cASRM24s. Brutality.

EDIT: I'm currently running UAC40 Ebon Jaguar. Not as good, but great for those SURPRISE! moments.

Timberwolf. Take no substitutes. Doesn't matter if you go for 6 CMPL or SRM vomit + lasers of your choice.

If there are "Clan" and "Heavy" in the same sentence then the answer is pretty much Timberwolf.

SRM wolves are not hard to kill 1v1; the small lasers are what does the legwork.

Madcat would be the go to. It is 75 tons and has great hitbox with armaments spread on all parts, making it pretty forgiving in several aspects. Hellbringers are pretty lopsided and the EBJ's CT won't last long at close range without paying extra attention to armor rolling.

With weaker brawlers, you just have to be more picky with the situation and you can be successful. You can get a very quick TTK with a 3xUAC-5 EBJ and blow an orange ST or CT before taking any real damage. On the other hand, if you aren't paying attention, you can probably still kill the guy but you may end up with a stripped component of your own.

Clans run hot, and even in a brawling mech, it's tremendously important to utilize cover when you can. I'd avoid open brawls unless you know you can kill a target before heat problems. That's common sense yeah, but I'm just saying you have to be extra mindful of your heat limitations in a clan mech.

With everything else in the game, mileage may vary.
