Looks fun as long as you chain fire correctly, but CGauss is simply superior while weighing the same and taking less slots. Try the glass sniper build.

Here it is with max ammo, 3 tons more in fact, armor is a little lower overall. If this mech manages to stick to ambushing it should kill whatever its against before the enemy can do too much damage. Chainfiring with 0.5 seconds between each shot you'd get all shots off under 4 seconds. You'd have a high probability of using all your ammo before you die. For some use after you run out of ammo you could swap 2 tons of ammo out for 2 medium lasers.
EDIT: This build is clearly not the most effective thing out there, but its sorta like using 6 AC2s in a king crab rather than 4 UAC 5s, simply for the dakka.

Tried that one already actually, felt pretty low on ammo, but I was running with max armor. Positioning was fine though, double the speed for half the damage though.

Had 5 tons. Never had the opportunity to use all the ammo. I used it very aggressively to break deadlocks and "encourage" teammates to push that way. Worked like a charm, died very often though.

thats been my experience with the ac60 whale. the second the enemy sees you shoot through one of their mechs like it was made of paper, you are going to get focused down (you will be too hot at that point to return fire). stick seismic in it, stick to the trenches, and play real sneaky and you might get 3 kills before running out of ammo. at least my build has 4 ermls to keep you fighting when the ammo runs out.

Unlike lasers, AC's stop firing when you power down.
If you alpha 4 UAC20's, you'll probably shut down before you can shoot all the rounds out...
I just don't see the point.
If you shoot one at a time to avoid the heat spike, your cooldown before you can fire another will take forever.

You'd put them on chain fire, that way you can get off a shot every half second. If you are going by double taps you'd be able to just keep firing until you jam or run out of ammo. So basically a constant stream of 5 damage shells at 8 shells a second. (480 rounds per minute seems pretty nice to me, though the entire mech doesn't have the ammo for firing that long).
Trying to alpha with the thing would be suicide.
