I think I missed the point of this thread. Was it supposed to be funny? is there a joke in there somewhere. I feel like the like the OP tried really hard to make a funny, but just pooped instead.

I blame it more on the reading comprehension of some of the people responding.

That's why I use 5 armor on the backs of my mechs.

I'm livin dangerous with 4 then, works quite well for me, situational awareness is a helluva drug...

Actually, the main reason for frontloaded armor is because getting attacked from behind is vastly less common than being attacked from the front. Why put armor in a place that rarely gets hit?

Its only rear because you die with almost 1 hit to the front. If you lived longer you would get hits to the back.

It's a matter of most mechs being agile enough to keep most enemies out of their rear arc, and because enemies have to try to find a stealthy path to get behind you in the first place. That, and having to account for the 11 other mechs on your team that can cover your back...

I think it depends a lot on the matches. In pub Q where murder ball is king i would agree. If you get into the private Q the better teams will get you into cross fires and you will take back damage.

Of course both will end up with only a few mechs at the end. If you're out numbered you can take a lot of back damage.

In my view it still has lot more to due with ttk and the standard 60+ alphas we have now.

Back when alphas were only around ~30 (IS poptart days), frontloading armor was still preferred for the same reasons.

Always front loaded of course, but not as much(at least for me). I guess i go a lot off my setups. I ran a lot more armor on my back two years ago. Today i run 5 or even even less on snipers on my back. Back then i would run closer to stock 15.

For me, I seem to be creeping towards less and less rear armor just through experience. As I get less bad at keeping people out of my butt, I don't need rear armor as much... The releases of really agile mechs like the Griffin and Warhawk (seriously it has a ridiculous twist radius for its size) make it that much easier.

I tend to use more back armor just to protect me from my own pug team.

Actually, it was a Badder. So shame on you!

well if it was an assault and the badder had 4srm6's its quite laod of damage incoming to ones back that doesn't spread much. Adder is great, people just suck using it right and try FS9 and ACH style on it.
