the PSR is new so every player in the same lot till the individual stats are built up. just a matter of time to see the actual results

my kill death ratio is very low and I don't bother with it, as long as the CBills are coming in.

The PSR was seeded. Every match played since mid January has contributed to your PSR score. Some adjustment may be necessary for some, though, as the matchmaking wasn't adjusted as their PSR climbed or dropped.

I just don't see this happening on a wide scale. How many terrible games would it take to drop down a tier, a hundred? Maybe hundreds? How many people are going to tank for several straight days just for a payoff of easy games for a few days?

How many ppl are going to put up with losing for many days to get them to the tier they should be in to find one good game then do it again/?

One good game isn't going to nullify days of losses. Once you find the correct tier for yourself, you'll probably stay there.

Hopefully I can get to tier 5 before I give up on playing cause constant losing is not what I call fun

As someone who was reset to tier 4.5 (because of limited play this year), my plan is to grind chassis, not sand-bagging, but handicapping, since I am no longer under constant meta pressure. But intentionally lowering PSR would be tedious and earn no chill or XP.

Tier 4.5 is fun! You can take crap mechs all night long and enjoy it.

I assume most people were middle of the pack with Elo and still are with PSR. They probably haven't had this kind of experience to begin with.

I havent had this experience before -.-

imo the group queue should run on elo or something different than this cause this system is good for solo but is killing the group

Group queue without more restrictions on player choice in terms of mechs and modes is going to problematic for any system they implement.

As I said elsewhere:

I want a system where when I lose, I drop in rank so I can get to a tier where Im matched against ppl of my own skill rank instead of being ranked against much better players because I apparently artificially inflate my match score by using LRMs and UAV

If your match scores are consistently high, I guess you are either screwed or on the way up and out of your problematic situation. Since we have no idea what a high match score actually is there is no way to know.

The system isn't the problem in group queue. It's lack of population making the system largely irrelevant.

The system is causing the lack of population. There wasnt a lack of population the first few days, my friends list was longer than Id seen it in forever. But then its gotten smaller and smaller since - especially with people who I know group together when they play as opposed to playing solo.

Mechwarrior Buddah, this thread has been quiet for days. Still losing continuously, reached stability, or rage quit?

Plus I still have not seen whether or not the tier split is a uniform distribution of 20%/tier or some other (gaussian, exponential, frechet) distribution.

More likely they just picked a rating range for each tier.

OK, you got me. I left out non-parametric distributions.

Definitely see an increase in skill/experience as of late.

Spawned Alpine in a light mech on the West side. Immediately take off SE behind hills to wrap around to see what I can see. Sure enough their assault lance had spawned at the furtherest spawn from the hill and they were trudging their way to the hill asap.

Except.

A Battlemaster was walking backward in their direction of travel /going forward but torso twisting constantly to cover their butts.

Just couldn't get close enough to them to take em out no matter which way I approached. Kudos to them.

He just needs more practice at walking backwards on Alpine.

Back in the long ago I had reached the point where I could go backwards in a Jenner through the drain pipes on (original) Forest Colony at 90+ kph without crashing. Of course that's when there were only 4 maps and 4 mechs...

Uhhh.

I don't know where you've been, but group queue has been too dead to properly match since "group queue" was an actual term. The solo/12 split killed most units, who would have populated the group queue, so there was never a population to occupy it from the get-go.

Maybe a few more people showed up to try out the new MM, but that was always going to be a momentary surge.
