I ran the patch and jumped in. First match is on FC which was cool because I was looking forward to the map. I really like the layout and I like a lot of the terrain features, (the brush not so much)but my play experience was super glitch super laggy and ended up just being me wandering through the brush waving my lasers at red dorritos because I couldn't aim at anything. My ping was around 150 give or take over 3 games that I just got slaughtered on. I play lights and unless you can actually see where your going and can aim at actual spots on the mech your just a victim. I'm no ace but 300-400 damage and surviving was pretty common. So after 3 games of either hiding to not die or dying while trying to engage the enemy I shut the thing off and walked away. Does this sound like a hardware issue on my end? It never did this before. Is it a ping thing? 150 used to be a good ping for me. Also can we tone down the brush some? with sensors the way they are in this game, concealment is not a real thing, cover is, but concealment really isn't so if your playing a small light mech you just blindly heading through the bushes with no idea where your heading or what your about to run into. Even a light mech is supposed to be tall, so why do I feel like I'm 3 feet tall walking through blue berry bushes? The map sure is cool though, well done on improving it. On future maps can we keep a little more visibility? Seems like every map has some reason I can't see a damn thing. Its night, there is brush in the way, sun glare, leaves falling, snow, wind, ect. Or am I the only one who feels this way?

Vegetation in this game is scaled in a way that makes absoloutly no sense.

Think about most maps from a average human perspective and you realize the map makers aren't making things with the idea that we're giant robots. We're just clunky human soldiers in robot cosplay.

TL,DR:

+ the map is bigger. less choke points.

- like in river city, visibility is severely limited. NV is too bright and short range. thermal, gives a barely vision of environment. standard vision, uncomfortable. so ECM plays a big role and that's a big minus.

Pebbles should never have collision boxes

its no joke when a tiny rock can stop a 100 ton mech in its tracks as if it were a 100 foot wall made of depleted uranium.

Also, I find myself looking for Ewoks in the new Forrest Colony map..

Lol, like how in Warthunder, tapping a pebble used to destroy your tank.

That new FC looks amazing. Finally has some degree of immersion to it. It actually looks like a believeable forest now, or something of the sort. Its incredible how much bigger it is. Its amazing looking now. Its sad to see the old radar and old dig site and see how small that map was. its nice we can finally not see clear across t he entire thing.

PGIs map teams finally have it figured out on these new maps. Now lets see what they can do with Alpine Peaks. First order of business, removing Big Rock Derp Tard Mountain.

RC and FC make me wish this game had a Coop PVE element more then ever now.

Huh? Can you clarify what you are saying?
PGI have finally started to really address the scale issues, the new maps are the only ones where any thought has been given to it. They are the only maps where I actually feel like a mech. Yes there are massive trees on the new forest colony, that is because there ARE massive trees in existence. If everything is small it actually makes the scaling issues worse, as we can see on the prevous maps.

This is true but I am hoping they are making these maps with the ECM nerfs in mind.

How about the lag/glitchy/notchy play I was experiencing? Anyone else? I can deal with the terrain, but not the glitchy can't aim, can't hit anything part.

There was someone complaining about that in one match, but it might have been you actually...

Jesus I HATE this map!

They should really start to worry about playability with their new maps.

1. down from 60 fps on the old map to occasional 20fps on the new one. Not cool.
2. WAY TOO LARGE for everything under 60kph. If you run a slow assault mech, youll get left behind and arrive late for the fight.
3. Absolutely confusing terrain, too many small ways and paths nobody will ever use.

I cant emphasize 1 enough. I hate playing this map already.

(Edit: Oh and how about making pebbles not stop my 100 ton war machine made of steel? Thank you.)

The 2 maps are so different that they should leave the other one in rotation also.

Think they mentioned that in a video a while back that they did try to have human sized trees and vegetation....they ended up looking like grass and bushes compared to Mechs and actual grass couldn't even be seen.
