Tough I like most of them. For the pure aesthetics I like the new Black Knight a lot.
Super happy about the Mauler though, it was hard for me to choose. Both are Draconis Combine mechs. hehe

Agreed, the Black Knight looks AMAZING!~ It tempts me like a sirens call to blow more money on this game...

The Crab looks good too, but, it's basically identical to the original sketches, so no bonus points... whereas the BK looks god awful in the original drawings, and here looks amazing.

On an unrelated note... You might want to have Alex check the release information in the FAQ... it says the 4th variant of the Bk, and Mauler will come out one week prior to the release of the mech itself :P

I'm not a fan of any of them.
The one i dislike the least is probably the Black Knight. Shame it's another boring pure energy boat, just without JJs.

At least it looks cool.

Greetings Tina,

Just wanted to ask, is it possible to change place for some hardpoints? I mean, look at all these mechs (except mauler, he is fine), they all looks like copy-paste without unique features.

For example, Black Knight.
BL-6 and BL-7-L like twins,(both have 8 hardpoints in same locations) maybe it is possible to turn BL-7-L into "Zombie" ,by adding him a spare hardpoint in center?
BL-6B and BL-7 (8 full hardpoints +1 spare in each), almost same situation, what about deleting 1 hardpoint from 6B and adding a ECM hardpoint(it was SLDF Royal after all)? Like it was with AS7-D-DC and COM-2D(well, they have done without removing hardpoints, but still, it's close enough situation). I Think IS really need a ECM heavy, because AS7-D-DC are almost useless in CW and takes up too much space.

I'll go with the Wolfhound, because it looks nice. It will add little to the 35t segment, but it might still be fun to play. The 315 engine cap is interesting although I think 300 is the sweet spot for 35t mechs. I suppose it will be a breed of PNT-8Z and RVN-2X with the speed of a Firestarter.

All in all if you look at the results of this poll, one has to say we got what we deserved wanted.

I personally was hoping for the Javelin (because different) and Vulcan (because 40t and MASC) and Lancelot (good 60t with decent speed)

Phelan Kell's Wolfhound and Dana Kufahl's Black Knight for me, but generally not a good choice since they all are energy boats. There has been a lot of clamouring for IS heavy with ECM long before Clans arrival, so I suggest Exterminator of Andrey Kerensky (yes, that is the PROPER way to transliterate his first name from Russian). It has been around since Star League, and http://www.sarna.net...ignature_System and http://www.sarna.net...rization_Shield where they are present may simply be skipped since in-game implementation of ECM serves pretty much the same purpose. Might be included as a loyalty award for both Resistance packs like Madd Dawg for 1-2 Clan packs.

And speaking of Clan pack loyalty awards... What do we get for buying 2+3 packs? And for all 3 of them for that matter? ;)

I'm quite partial to the Black Knight in terms of aesthetics, and I am quite alright with the placement of the Black Knight's hardpoints.

I would like to ask though is the Wolfhound going to get it's ears?

My favorite of those mechs is the Mauler, but I voted Wolfhound as it's the only one I'm currently considering getting. Until I see exactly what ballistic absurdity the Mauler can bring, I'm good on assaults for now. XL315 on a 35 tonner, however, is something I've specifically wanted for years.

As much as I like the other two for nostalgia reasons, they're pure energy boats. The current prevalence of laservomit is already making me miss the reign of the poptarts a little.

Love the Wolfhound but its manatee/doorstop/vacuum head is a real turn-off. Since Alex officially said it won't be changed, ill wait for it to be out for C-bills.

Crab and Mauler looks gorgeous.

Show me the quirks! Until I see why a wolfhound is a fundamentally different ride than a Firestarter, I'm not going to open my wallet. likewise, it's the quirks that will determine whether the Crab is competitive to the hunchback P (or even my Centurion L) as an energy platform.

Unlike some Whiney Wallaces (and/or Wilmas), I am fine with the hardpoints of the new 'Mechs. :P

But for me, it was a tough choice. Frankly I think I have to go with the Crab, though, since its body and cockpit remind me of a Stalker. :D
Besides, the Crab was a logical addition considering the King Crab. B)

For me, it's all about the light mechs. I really look forward to getting my hands on the Wolfhound. It's got a 2 AMS variant (which is always really nice to have) and a 35 ton variant that'll break the 151kph barrier. I REALLY look forward to putting that through its paces . . . especially if they give the Wolfhound the durability quirks it should have as being one of the tankiest light mechs of lore.

On top of it, the prospect of a very durable Wolfhound variant that could be a zombie with respectable speed is also enticing. I easily see a 240 standard (if not 250) fitting into the WLF-2 or WLF-1A and still carry a full complement of medium lasers. Experimentation will be needed. Regardless, I could see the zombie capability really annoying other lights (particularly clanners).

Anyway, I actually look forward to all the mechs of the package. I'm still not sure if I'll buy the Mauler in advance, though, because I'm pretty good on assault mechs, and they're just not my thing. However, I LOVE the new Black Knight, and Alex's art beats the ever-loving crap out of any other Black Knight, in my own personal opinion. Of course there's also the Crab, and I want that thing to have opening and closing pincers like the King Crab . . . but that "missile door" technology to use on more than just the King Crab. The artwork for the Crab is awesome and deserves it.

EDIT: FS9-A Using the FS9-A as an example, you can actually make a Zombie Wolfhound WLF-2 with a STD 270 in it and full medium laser payload . . . drop to a STD 250 and you could have 12 Double Heatsinks for better heat control. That's what I'd call a pretty viable zombie light mech.

I voted Mauler because it has a balistic varient; none of the others do.

I like them all, but as I prefer piloting lights I'll have to go with the Wolfhound.

The faster and more maneuverable it is, the more I like it. :)
