Working as intended™.

Remember, the value that is gathered by the new system considers ALL matches the same (solo vs group, light = assault).

Makes for some interesting matchups though. Was your overall team tonnage lower than theirs?

Id rather have an extra Tdr or Twolf over and Atlas unless the driver is really good in the atlas. Tonnage has not the been the highest determining factor in a mechs playability. If you do group Q always stack your drops with specific weight classes and do mediums last. Your chances of getting extras goes way up. This is the reason you do not see many 12 man drops.

Once upon a time there was talk of having an "average tonnage" in group qeue with 3/3/3/3 still in tact for groups of 4 players or above.

I feel like this would solve the min / maxing of the pre-mades a bit more.

I have seen 6 mans drop 3 Direwolf / 3 Timberwolf, only to be matched with 3 further assaults + heavies. It makes it incredebly dumb to go up against because it breaks the 3/3/3/3 system and still gives them essentially min / max tonnage.

At least with a 60 ton average, they would have to skew more well rounded and not just constantly drop all assaults / heavies that screws with the total match weight, and at least it will get a bit more diversity out there.

I love it when you drop and the other team has umpteen million gauss cannons

Ok maybe not umpteen million but a whole lot of them and you have your puny LRMs and ERML/CERML

My best was 3 Dires and a Warhawk in the enemy team, and there was I in my Awesome, heaviest mech in our team!

We lost.

I have that happen in a Grasshopper, yes a Grasshopper, not even a TW or our team.

I've also dropped on Alpine conquest (before they moved the nodes together) where I was the fastest mech ....in a Dragon.

Yea it was on the old forest colony map. We got literally ambushed before we could even move out. I clearly remember that match. From what I remember the opponent had 2x 4-man Groups and I was in a 4-man Group myself, don't know about the rest.
The reason why I am posting this is because the "Tonnage-wise" balance has improved significantly ever since they introduced the 4x3 system and tweaked the MM.

Edit: yes thats pre-clan, If I remember right around the time of MWO beta-tournament.

Across 12 mechs its still possible the tonnage was balanced out, or at least closer than your OP makes it.

Got a screenshot?

Don't you mean, MM gave my team a major maneuverability advantage?

@Eglar How come your screenshot shows victory when you were on the losing side? That confused me a tad. But geez, it looks like the winning team had a plan to wolfpack you all. Speed kills. Plus, Proton was on their side. He's pretty much is equal to a whole lance...
