I am wondering if it is possible for PGI to provide free Skill Points based on play in newly acquired Mechs purchased with CBills, MC, and Pre-Order, but you have to earn them by playing. They could mae it retroactive to the date the new Skill Tree was announced.

I figure it could be a form of Cadet Bonus. They could set up mini-goals for newly acquired Mechs that could be met thru game play. Some things I thought of:

1. First Victory: 1 SP
2. First 5 Victories: 4 SP
3. First Kill/KMDD: 1 SP
4. First 5 Kill/KMDDs: 4 SP
5. 10 Matches Started & Finished (Victory not required): 5 SP
6. First 20 Assists: 5 SP

This would equate to 20 free Skill Points (equal to 900,000 CBills) to get your new Mech kick started, in addition to any experience you earn while playing those matches. It would also soften the CBill costs of the skill tree and allow the player to spend money buying weapons and upgrades for their new Mech instead of Skill Points.

I like this proposal a lot. There needs to be some starting help. Let's face it buying a mech cost a lot more than the price attached to it. Like you said there are always weapons, engines and consumables you have to pack into it.

I like this idea a lot, there's definitely a difficult period for any mech while you are acquiring the first twenty odd SP where the mech doesn't have any bonuses and you're realy suffering because of it.

This would also reduce the 'grind' (minimal though it is) for new players AND whales who collect mechs for real money, both of whom are valuable to retain.

To be honest, I would love to have mini-achivements overall in the game, not for SP only.
Similar to first victory of the day or the events, but more long term and FP included.
Only downside would be that the current events might not be useful anymore.

Rewards could come in form of CB, GXP, LP or even GSP. Maybe some extra banners for the players "uniform" or forum profile (Participation banners for long term missions/events)

Daily missions:
- Kill 20 players of Faction XYZ
- Defend 5 Bases while having a Loyalist contract
- Win 10 battles in a Davion mech with autocannons
- Survive 10 battles
...

Weekly missions:
- Complete 5 daily missions
- Defend 3 Planets
- Scout on 5 different planets
- Place on top 50 rank on class/mech xyz
- Salvage 5mio CB worth of battle salvage
...

Monthly missions/campaigns:
- Complete 3 weekly missions -> participation ribbon
...

season campaigns (3-6months):
- Compete 12 weekly missions -> war veteran ribbon/star
- Place on top 50 players in x weeks -> Champion banner/star
...

I'd have no problem with this, anything to improve the NPE.

That said, it's something to improve the NPE so it's unlikely to be done.

I'd be more than happy for PGI to prove me wrong on this though.

This helps new players and veterans alike assuming it's per variant, because levelling these things can be an unnecessary grind and really detracts from the feel of the game.

I don't subscribe to the Twittersphere, so someone else is going to have to forward it...
