Just a thought...it would go from 2E hardpoints to 5. The Gunboat of Spiders, without the ECM of the 5D or the..."Machine Guns"...of the other two.

I guess that begs the question...

I think that the other Spideys should get similar help...


Add an extra ballistic to each arm of the 5K. Yes, I know exactly what this creates. :D

Add an extra missile to the CT of the hero variant. Or better yet, make it 1 missile per side torso and nothing in the CT (or move lasers to CT?).

I'm not sure what to do about the 5D...on one hand, Jesus Box. On the other hand, it still has most other lights to contend with... An extra laser in that right arm should do it.

2 ST lasers could also help lots. But the proposed solution would be easy to implement.

liked this, quoted it, and am going to like my quote for added emphasis. Also, because of the nod to the dreaded 6MG spider.

Actually, the Spider 5V is my benchmark mech for the bottom of the rebalance pass. I'm v3ry interested to see how tehy approach it.

Poor old 5V!

I have a soft spot for this funnest of mechs and am also very interested in the rebalance and how they handle light mechs.

I hope some of my favourite mechs become more viable:

I strangely haven't done all that bad in a 5V.

More weapons isn't going to help it. It's specialty is mobility. Phenomenal mobility, both vertical and horizontal. It can excel in a lot of the non-combat jobs the lights have, and the quirks make the med pulse lasers quite deadly if you stick around long enough.

Simply moving the two energy points from the chest and dividing it into the torso's would be great.

That or keep 1 center, and move the other to a torso.

I don't think that manipulating the old Spider into some mutant Firestarter clone is the right way to do it.

If you gotta boat, play the Firestarter.

The 5V should get 2 more ballistic slots in each arm for a total of 4

Buff machine guns !!

Would be nice to change the hitboxes back to the old legs. Where the hitboxes were the same size as the model.

The 5V doesn't need any more weapons; no room with all that engine and jump jets. What it needs are sensors that see you before you see it. The ability to target more than one enemy mech would be nice too. I know I have my fingers crossed!

To make things easier, try to avoid new models. Anansi doesn't have that option but ST missiles seems nice.

Give the 5D and 5K 2E in the CT? Not much work there, as seen above (plus copy pasted MGs).

Separating the 5V's hardpoints to either ST...I mean, visually they could stay the same, just have the hardpoint move, but it removes the ever limited Zombie trolling potential of a STD 5V.

It needs to be able to bend more... My main grip is the pitch on the 5V is terrible.
Having puny 2E in the CT is one thing... Not being about to point them at people up or down a hill a freaking annoying.
