The speed boost isn't even what really matters with MASC, its the manueverablity. With it you turn almost 3 times faster than normal, lights try to attack me all the time and my mech lives up to its name. I get the boost going and blast their legs off with a single burst of pulse lasers from the arm. As a side note its also more armored than the Gargoyle.
I went and elited mine because I got the pack a few weeks ago. Today I finally got the D omnipods, I tried out a 11 spl 2 mg loadout and it melted face. Took out a stalker and zeus while leading a charge through the enemy lines, ended up with over 250 more damage than the next highest guy in the match (I had top score). Also made over 300k because of all the component destruction. I have 6 lasers in group 1 and 5 in group 2 with the MGs set to fire any time the lasers fire and when I use group 3. firing 2 or 3 bursts (takes about 1.5 seconds) opens up just about anything, maybe 4 bursts for a 100 tonner's CT. I can just rip open a side torso and just gut the enemy and let the cbills roll in. With it elited I can fire 4 bursts without going over 90% heat on caustic, so it tends to do well.
Also the armor pretty much allows you to face tank most other enemy mechs, you can also spread damage to the arms, though losing them means you lose a large portion of firepower, right side is stronger though so defend with your left if you have to. The MASC allows you to get out of places other assaults couldn't. You can 180 in a second and be at top speed as fast as you press the button to.
Its pretty good in my opinion, I've been using it for close range mostly rather than long range meta poker alpha something something. Before the D pods I was using 6 SPL, and an UAC10. I also just like the chassis in general, was one of my favorites in the older games even.
EDIT:
Oh and if you did want to just poke meta with it I've heard it has some good high torso hardpoints and the MASC acceleration and deceleration really helps it peek and hide, I guess you could load it down with some big lasers and a gauss or something... but wheres the fun in that.
