And a lot has changed.

When I played in the beta it was all run 'n' gun so naturally that's what I didwhen I started back a few days ago....and died over and over and over..........

I'm really happy the game has evolved from the spam firing I used to see in beta, and people use cover and evasion.

Looking forward to being killed by you

I guess it's good that it's more to your liking now. Personally, if I want to play a hidey peeky shooter, I launch one of the million others out there.

Well, tactics do change somewhat as you move up and down within the tier system, and from server to server. Players on the NA server tend to be more mobile, whereas on the EU server they are more entrenched. Oceanic seems to be some sort of demon mix of the two.

In general though, balance is at it's best point thus far (IMHO) and the new tier system looks promising once the kinks for mid-tier players are ironed out.

Welcome back! If you're interested in how the current meta works, the MetaMechs site gives you an indication of how different mechs stack up next to each other, and the most excellent smurfy's website should help scratch your mech building itches.

My memories from beta were both sid's rushing the centre and basically having a royal rumble. You got killed more times by friendly fire.

Welcome back, and try to avoid all the haters that still spam the forum since closed beta.
MWO is great and it's getting better, except for Community Warfare, which sucks.

Good hunting and have fun.

Yes much has changed and it is no longer run and gun, hasn't been for some time. If you at a modern warfare or black ops fan this game might not be for you because the matches take some time to develop. Recently i haVe seen matches start out where it is 1-3 then to go to 5-5 and end in 11-12. The psr is working ... Some times and these scores are showing it. Also the revamped maps have more cover also many players build their mechs to be anti lrm and use cover now to minimize beINg targeted.

Yeah I've had many drawn out matches these days, neither team wants to full derp towards the enemy team. Makes for some tense battles and well time pushes.

I've been here since late 2012 and it has evolved nicely. With some issues still as it will likely never be perfect.

Welcome back!@!

I don't believe you. Why? Because you did not leave your gaming schedule, and in the required GMT format. ;)

In the meantime:

I got a Griffin, a kit fox, and a shadow cat prime.

I had some good games in the Griffin and kit fox but my god the shadow cat.

I dropped the guass cannon for an ac 10 because I can't get the hang of the GC. So it's now more of a harassing sustained fire.
On a dessert map last night things were going good, we were 6 for 2 up when our base started to be capped. Myself and a raven were closest so we went back but the raven seeing me returning broke off and went back to the main battle.

I carried on expecting a scout or a med, I rounded an outcrop of rock only to find myself looking down the barrel of an Atlas. Rather than run or hide I went for it. He did get first blood on me but after the shock wore off he got nothing else. I was able to lay sustained fire on him an critical an arm and leg. While I was 1v1 on the Atlas my team mopped the floor and came back to help.

I didn't get the kill but I am now officially married to the Shadow Cat

I recently returned after stopping in 2013 due to connection issues. The game is a lot prettier and has lots of stuff. I've not tried the CW side yet since I do not have enough time to dedicate to playing in a stable organization. The PUG games seem better balanced over all. However, it seems like unless you are using a clan mech, you are basically wasting your time.

CW isn't polished (aka its still Beta, and it shows)

I have nothing but Inner Sphere mechs and I can assure you I'm not wasting my time, just wasting enemy mechs. ;)
