Petition To Let Us Browse The Store While Searching For A Match

Please let the searching be done in the background (with a notification in the bottom bar saying we've been put in a matchmaking queue) and in the mean time let us browse the store, or use the mechlab, and use the social chat group windows while we wait for the match.
I understand there might be errors caused by trying to "save" or "purchase" a mech in the Mechlab or the Store, this can be mitigated by giving the user 3 seconds to click Save once the matchmaking lobby is ready before the player is transferred into the simulator part of the game.

I wouldn't let people fart around while the game searches for things to minimize the amount of ways a player could screw something up or glitch something out while matchmaking is going on.
What would happen if you were in the middle of buying a mech, and your match was found? Or your loadout was in the middle of saving?
It feels fairly low priority, given you can tab out and do something else.

As an aside, I get stuck in the connecting screen a lot, it would be nice if there was a way to cancel it.

Other games do that well. Many things can be done while the matchmaking is taking place. Look at Dota2 for example.
The mech can be saved while the matchmaker is running or even when the game starts, it can be done in parallel. It wouldn't cause a problem unless the mech being saved is the mech that is being deployed - and it could be made so that you can't save the currently selected mech and you can have it disappear from the mechbay completely (it is being deployed after all).
Do you realize that it is because people often tab-out that they later find their mechs destroyed in the early mins of the game?

You're right. It can be done. You have given precedents.
But honestly?
I don't see myself ever assigning this as a priority. I'd rather not disable the loading, unclickable screen, and have QA go through it, then patch up whatever they find, only to have it go out, have the players see it, and then they raise an uproar that one of them accidentally sold a mech or something.
However unlikely that the bug will come out, it doesn't seem worth it to add another thing to QA every patch.
MWO's tab in Windows 8 glows when I find a match on the start bar. So I don't really see a pressing need.
