I'm getting very tired of playing River City and Forest Colony 75% of the time.
I want the ability to select the map I'm going to play.
Will people choose specific mechs for specific maps, sure, but I don't think it will change the battles very much anyway.

And why am I getting tired of playing these maps? Well, because they play exactly the same every freaking time...

I'd really like this to be implemented: http://mwomercs.com/...ty-to-gameplay/

To me, the inability to choose maps is a failed attempt at controlling the meta.
Instead of making the different weapons more balanced the work around is to not let people know what map they will be playing, and as such they will want to have a mix of weapons that work in several environments.
Well, I would say that is not working.

If all weapons were more balanced relative to each other, the "meta" would be far less strong and choosing maps would not be a problem for that reason.

Bu bu but, some maps wouldn't get played because they suck... Well, let PGI unsuck them then...

Never because some of you whiny try hards would never play tourmaline or caustic valley ever again, and that would leave the rest of us questioning your personhood.

And you experience has been the opposite of mine, each experience on those two maps has been slightly different.

I like Caustic and Tourmaline is OK.
Besides, is it really better to force people to play maps they don't like, will they even perform to their best then?

Hopefully never. The meta would be so strong. Look it how it is already, but now imagine it much, much worse. People would begin to make certain builds for certain maps. Hot maps would be filled with Gauss rifles and cold ones with Clan lasers

I would welcome the ability to at least pick a mech after I know what map it is going to be. Then I could avoid bringing pure womit builds to Mordor and assault brawlers to Alpine. It happens more often than you'd expect.

I always expect my first match to to be alpine when I load a brawler. And it doesn't matter, I still do well.

To answer your question hopefully never. Map selection outside of private matches should never be an option.

I can't even get a decent rotation of game modes. Never seeing one or more of the limited map choices would really suck.

You must be a Tier 1 pro then.

Never. Random maps reward versatility and punish powergaming.

Its like asking for a No Heat game-mode so you can boat 6 ERPPCs.

So you want to keep the meta and go for less play options instead?
To me it's the meta that should go away as much as possible, all weapons should be made nearly equally viable.

That wouldn't happen, in worst case you'd have to wait a bit longer to play on unpopular maps.

Or he uses cover and patience to maneuver close to the red team without taking substantial damage, then pops out and annihilates the already damaged enemy 'mechs with his short ranged firepower. Just sayin'.

If I wanted longer wait times I wouldn't have my current problem with almost never dropping into a conquest game. I tried selecting conquest alone at one point last night and the waits quickly changed my mind on that.

I wish I got those 2 maps a lot, all I seem to get are Mordor and Dune, with the occasional Deathstar and Crimson Straights thrown in for giggles. Pretty much my least favorite maps, and they seem to be in the highest rotation for me.

Nope. But, smart enough to have played competitively in the past before I took a two year break. And now climbing back. I was able to crack in to the leaderboards on the Founders Event and one of the Hero events but real life kept me from staying there(not enough time to amass 10 perfect games but solid enough to have 10 games worth ranking)

Cool story.
See, the thing I did there is called irony. You are supposed to go ha-ha at it instead of writing your whole autobiography.

No way! You must be another Tier 1 to come up with such cunning battleplans! I take my hat off.

No, not really.

But I would certainly welcome more uncalled-for common sense advice on how to brawl from complete strangers. Do continue.

To be honest I would like the ability to pick what maps I want, or at least deselect a few I don't want just because I always get the same map or two or three maps back to back then occasionally see some of my favorites like once a week. At least I'd die to the meta builds on a map I picked.

This. Map selection would be nice with a stock mode. But i think Russ said some months ago that there wont be a stock mode, so private matches it is.

Have to say I love all maps, and I just use a mech that works equally well in all environments for me. Not to say though I get it when some peeps have a mech that is completely unsuited to the map whether that's load-out or camo.

Personally if i could get to change camo for a map that would make me happy.
