Elemental suites are really small. They could work as spies or as saboteur.

Map: city
Special buildings: auto gun, cannons, laser turrets, Central CPU for city defence, Data buildings, hostage
buildings, etc

A Elemental could sneak into the city and gather intel much easier then a 20 ton mech.
An Elemental could be used to diable defensive systems for a given period. Making an assualt onto a target
in the city possible. Mechs can detect Elementals if they visually see them. Radar will not show them.
Mech radar is set to objects that are large. Thus you need Elementals to detects other Elementals successfully.

Elemental can do:
- Disable systems
- Sneak in / out much easier
- Tag buildings or mechs from a short distance for tactical advantage.
- Take over other mechs, you drop your Elemental suite.

Elemental mustn't do:
- walk beneath a mech...you will be crushed!
- Take on mechs with your tiny laser

Why:
- You get a new way to play mechwarrior. Play stealth....

it would remove the focus from the mech combat.... and it is a pain to balance so no thanks

light mechs can play stealth. i always hated those suits, sure it would be ok to have them there, but id prefer not to.

I think it would be pretty funny to see an AC/20 hit an Elemental.

That aside I think it would add a lot of overhead to development, but I think it's a good idea, certainly support it if the devs were thinking of ever letting Mechwarriors eject from Mechs and battle on foot.

If you want that kind of playstyle you should check out MWLL, they have Elemental suits (or BattleArmor, BA, as they are called).
Then all you need is to find a good urban map and you can play as much as you like.
