i've been naturally, all clan for a while, but i've always had my eyes on the zeus, it was iconic for me, as well as the mauler. i managed to pick up my zeus today, and it feels right for me. one piece of innersphere tech i'm glad to own.

so i thank you for putting this machine in game, it brings back a lot of memories.

What about the rest of you? Are you enjoying it? What do you prefer for loadouts?

I want to, but I can't really justify it. I'm pretty much all Clan on this account now, and my alt is DCMS. And unfortunately the Zeus isn't a DCMS mech according to my sources. So I'm holding out for the Mauler. The Mauler has more dakka anyway. B)

the mauler is another iconic machine for me, once that is released, i'll be adding him to my inventory.

the memories... they're coming back

I really like the Zeus, it's a fun brawler. I just wish the R variant had more than one single missile hardpoint.

currently running mine as 3 large pulse, endo, ferro, 5 DHS standard 350 engine, arms empty for shields. he's doing nicely, 3 kills and 490 damage for a first match.

I run the same thing but threw a medium on the one arm just because....But having over 100 pts of armor on your shield side makes him quite formidable.

God finger build is fun too, 3 SRM6's in that arm makes for a mean group of missiles. Also the R variant does well with a single LRM 15 with art. I know, i know SIngle LRM launcher is for Tier 5 scrubs! But the glob that comes out of that thing will drop crit mechs in a single volley every single time. Try it for yourself!

Well... Enjoy it while it lasts. I have this niggling feeling in the back of my head, that it'll lose all those delicious armor quirks in this upcoming "MAJOR REBALANCE" and... I don't think it'd be undeserved.
Those quirks are kind of over-the-top. Especially since the Zeus is very small for its tonnage (definitely smaller than a lot of Heavy mechs) and it has very good hitboxes.

After the TimberWolf, the Battlemaster(which I haven't picked up yet) and the Dragon, all the rest of my MUST HAVEs are UNSEEN,

Rifleman, Warhammer etc...

Absolutely love the Zeus. I doubt I will like the Mauler even though I bought the pack. It's max engine is 325, so it will go a measly 60 with a max engine and 66 with speed tweak. I can put what I planned on putting on my Mauler on my King Crab instead. My King crab goes 64 with speed tweak, has more armor, and has a 120 torso twist.

I'm hoping one of the variants has the option for a much bigger engine than a 325. Pilots are gonna complain they get left behind running those Maulers.

I've been out for a bit due to RL, so I didn't get to play my Zeus. I dusted it off and tricked it our for the Blood Moon event, and it was wondrous. I have the R variant with some LL and twin AC5, and it works really well for me

I wonder why you're so excited to have an assault sized like a medium and with the power and the armor of that tonnage....

I love the zeus! I have a decent kdr of ~1.8 on it, and it was my last favorite IS mech!

After resistance 1 and the abortion that was the grasshopper, I started cbill buying my first clan mechs though.

After getting sick of the Twolf within 50 games, I quickly found that even the much maligned gargles is equal (and similar) to the zeus. trading armor for extra speed and firepower... This slippery slope led to wave 3, and 600 games in the executioner with a kdr of 2.1 and rising.

Before my fall from grace the Zeus was the last IS mech to be my main ride. The R variant I think makes a great lineholder with 3erll and a gauss.

The 3lpl+3ml Laser-Zeus is the king though. Combine an xl380 with powerful modules (make sure to use mlas range +lpl cooldown for max alpha sync) and you have a brutal pinpoint mech that moves 84kph with atlas armor and dishes out a respectable alpha nonstop.

I really can't bring myself to like the Zues. Low slung hardpoints, bad distribution of hardpoints.. I'm having a lot of trouble levelling them up.

The gold finger build is fun, but it's hot and very vulnerable to losing an arm. The other variants I tried lots of different builds, before just chucking a bunch of LPLs on them and calling it a day. I have a 1.4+ KDR on each of them, but I don't feel like I'm during very well when I'm piloting them

well it's just a little over the timbers weight, so i'm not expecting the zeus to be atlas sized, and it matches up well to the timbers height, like a raging midget assault.

I'm a bit sad in some way. I like PPCs and I like Battlemasters and Awesomes, but I'm terrible with them in that combination. :(

i'm liking the missile fist array, but i can't justify choosing the 3 missile mount over the 6 energy mount. not with those quirks.

I wish that my Sunflower of Doom was better. 45lrms right now looks fun but the size of that whammer and the poor functionality of lrms at the moment make it far less useful than 18 srms mixed with mpls. Great close in but horrible outside of 250m.

if they ever get streak6 for innersphere, thats what i'm putting there. some large lasers for range, and streakfist for defense against cheetahs and other lights.
